FAQs

The Wedding Website of Elise Kahn and James Allen
Question

What is Salvage One?

Answer

We love our venue and love talking about it! Salvage One is an "architectural treasures and vintage gems" store in Chicago. The first floor is their show room, arranged almost IKEA style, but way way cooler. During cocktail hour, we encourage you to walk around the first floor and explore all the gizmos, gadgets, and absolutely beautiful vintage furniture. The second floor is their event space, where they use their own vintage tables and chairs to set up the dining area. This venue is funky, eclectic, and unique; it felt perfect to us. We love filling our home with vintage furniture, facebook marketplace finds, and lots of color.

Question

What time should I arrive at the ceremony?

Answer

We encourage you to give yourself extra time to travel to the venue since it will be Friday Rush hour traffic! Ceremony starts in the courtyard at 5:30 PM, please arrive before 5:15 PM. The venue will be open for regular business before our ceremony, so if you end up there a bit early, you can wander and explore the show room.

Question

Is there parking for the ceremony or reception?

Answer

Salvage One does not have a parking lot but free street parking is normally plentiful in the evening.

Question

Is there a dress code?

Answer

Come dance the night away with us wearing your best cocktail attire! We encourage dresses and jackets of any and all colors (ties optional).

Question

Is there transportation from the hotel to the ceremony?

Answer

There is a shuttle from the Palmer House to Salvage One before the ceremony.

Question

Are children welcome?

Answer

While we love your little ones, we are only able to accommodate children of our immediate family at the Ceremony & Reception. Children who are invited will be included on the invitation. We appreciate your understanding and can't wait to celebrate together!

Question

Can I bring a plus-one?

Answer

Due to limited space, we're only able to accommodate guests who are formally listed on the invitation. If you were given a plus-one, it will be clearly indicated on your invite.
