Rebeca and James met at a Friendsgiving in 2017. As they mingled among friends, they quickly bonded over their shared love of travel, hiking, and the ocean. Upon learning that Rebeca was from Mexico (from the quiz that you've likely been challenged with if you’ve ever asked her about her accent), James awkwardly attempted to impress her with his Spanish. She wasn’t impressed, but she found his awkwardness, smile, and blue eyes charming. Later in the evening, while having dinner, their eyes met across the table. With gentle smiles and lingering gazes, they both felt that quiet, undeniable spark of something special. Rebeca and James have been together ever since, though not always physically. They spent four years apart for graduate school — Rebeca attending university in Nevada for physical therapy while James studied oceanography in Santa Barbara. Despite the challenges that accompany a long-distance relationship, their communication and prioritization of each other’s needs allowed their bond to endure. James proposed to Rebeca in 2024 while watching the sunset from a beach in the place they now call home — Santa Barbara — where, on September 13, 2025, they will celebrate their love with friends and family. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Rebeca y James se conocieron en Hawaii en una reunion celebrando el Día de Acción de Gracias en 2017. Mientras platicaban con amigos, se dieron cuenta que compartían los mismos gustos por viajar, escalar y la playa. Cuando James supo que Rebeca era de Mexico, el trato de impresionarla hablando español. Ella no se impresiono por su español, pero Rebeca pensó que James era encantador gracias a su personalidad, sonrisa y ojos azules. Esa noche mientras cenaban, Rebeca y James cruzaron miradas — entre sonrisas y miradas tiernas, los dos sintieron la chispa que no podia ocultar el inicio de algo especial. 

 Rebeca y James han estado juntos desde ese día, pero no siempre fisicamente. Pasaron cuatro años teniendo una relación a distancia gracias a que los dos estaban estudiando el doctorado - Rebeca en la Universidad de Las Vegas estudiando Fisioterapia y James en California estudiando Oceanografía. A pesar de todos los obstáculos que vienen con estudiar el doctorado y tener una relación a distancia, la comunicación y prioridad que tuvieron por el otro les ayudo a que su relación creciera y se hiciera mas fuerte. 

 James le pidió matrimonio a Rebeca en 2024 mientras veían el atardecer en la playa de la ciudad que ahora consideran su hogar — Santa Barbara — que en Septiembre 13, 2025, sera el lugar donde celebraran su amor y el inicio de su matrimonio con amigos y familia.
