Getting Around: ✨ The easiest way to get to Cascais is via Uber or Bolt. ✨ Skip the traditional taxi line in the arrival hall to avoid being overcharged. Follow signs for "Rideshare" and walk five minutes to the designated pickup zone for a lower, fixed price. ✨ You generally won’t need to rent a car. Both Cascais and Lisbon are incredibly walkable, and rideshares are abundant and very affordable. Helpful Apps: ✨ Bolt: Download this before you arrive! In Lisbon and Porto, Bolt is often significantly cheaper and more popular than Uber. ✨ Trains: If you are visiting Porto or other cities, book at least 5 days in advance via the CP app to unlock "Promo" fares for up to 50% off. ✨ Travel to Europe App: Portugal recently launched a new digital border system. To speed up your entry, pre-register your info on this official app within 72 hours of your flight. ✨ App Store: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/travel-to-europe/id6477891306 ✨ Google Play: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=eu.europa.publications.traveltoeurope Departing Portugal: ✨ Arrive at the airport at least 3 hours early. Lisbon is using a new digital border system, and wait times for immigration can vary significantly, sometimes exceeding 2 hours. ✨ Crucial Note: At LIS airport, Passport Control is located AFTER the duty-free shops. Do not linger in the shopping mall; head straight through duty-free to the immigration line to ensure you clear security before your flight boards. Giving yourself this buffer will make your departure much more relaxed!

Wedding Day Transportation

The Wedding Ceremony and Reception will take place at Quinta do Gaio de Cima in Cartaxo which is about 50 minutes from Cascais and Lisbon. ✨ Pickup: Two large shuttles will depart from central Cascais near Hotel Baía (Passeio de Dom Luís I) promptly at 3:30 PM. ✨ Return: Shuttles will depart the venue for the return trip to Cascais at 12:00 AM and 2:00 AM. Rideshare: Uber and Bolt work well, but the venue is in a remote area. If you aren't taking the shuttle, we highly recommend scheduling your rides a few days in advance.

Where to stay

We recommend all guests stay in Cascais so we can enjoy the beach town together. Of course, feel free to stay in Lisbon. Just keep in mind that Cascais will be the most convenient for all wedding-related activities and easy transportation to/from the wedding venue. Cascais has many different hotel options all within minutes of each other and most of them are great. We have checked out a few that we have listed below. If you have any questions about these or about other hotels in the area you find that you want to check with us are a good option, please reach out to us. We will be staying at the Villa Cascais Boutique hotel.
