Things To Do

The Wedding Website of Remy Spanierman and Jake Kaye
Toledo is a stunning historic city located just south of Madrid. Often called the "City of Three Cultures" for its rich Jewish, Christian and Muslim heritage, Toledo is known for its medieval architecture, winding cobbled streets, and hilltop setting surrounded by the Tagus River. It’s a UNESCO World Heritage Site and was once the capital of Spain.

Tour Toledo's Historic Sites

Wander the winding cobblestone streets of Toledo’s Old Town - a UNESCO World Heritage Site. You’ll find charming plazas, hidden courtyards, and centuries of history around every corner. Immerse yourself in Toledo's rich history with guided tours of its iconic landmarks and historic sites. From the renowned Jewish Quarter, majestic Alcázar fortress, and the awe-inspiring Toledo Cathedral, each stop offers fascinating insights into the city's past.

Enjoy Spanish Tapas & Wine

Toledo is a wonderful place to sample the flavors of Castilla La Mancha. Begin an evening with tapas and a glass of regional wine around Plaza de Zocodover, where lively bars serve Manchego cheese, marzipan (a local specialty!) and regional wine.

Visit Cabañeros National Park

About an hour and a half drive from Toledo, Parque Nacional de Cabañeros is often called the Spanish Serengeti for its sweeping open plains and rolling mountains. It is a beautiful place to take a break from the city and enjoy nature before or after the wedding. The park is home to deer, wild boar and many bird species, including the endangered Spanish imperial eagle. October is particularly lovely when the grasslands are green and wildflowers are in bloom. Visitors can explore marked hiking trails or join a guided 4x4 safari to see the best scenery and learn about the park’s unique ecosystem. Begin at the Casa Palillos Visitor Center for maps, trail advice and exhibits in both English and Spanish. Guided tours should be booked in advance since access to some areas is limited to protect wildlife.

Make a Stop in Madrid

Madrid is only a 30 minute high speed train ride from Toledo and makes a perfect addition to your trip before or after the wedding. Spend a day or two before or after the wedding celebrations exploring the world famous Prado, Reina Sofía and Thyssen Bornemisza museums, then wander through vibrant neighborhoods such as La Latina for tapas, Salamanca for upscale shopping or Malasaña for a more bohemian vibe. Retiro Park offers a peaceful green escape in the heart of the city, while the lively Gran Vía is ideal for an evening stroll or a cocktail.
