If you ask Kate our first date technically doesn't count as one to her, but to me it still counts. I remember meeting up with her at a bar near my office one day after work and the conversation just felt so natural. You always know it's a good sign when you plan the next date during the first one and I was so happy when Kate suggested we meet up again and check out the MET which I had mentioned I had never been to before, much to her surprise. That whole week leading up to the date I was excited to keep talking to her. Unfortunately it was during that week that I took a trip to San Diego to visit some friends, so I spent much of the time sending her pictures of my trip. All the cool animals from the zoo certainly helped. And finally the time arrived for our first big date. We went to the MET together and had a great time exploring the museum and seeing all the cool exhibits. She even indulged me and let me check out the weapons exhibit for longer than she probably would have liked. We then ended the night at the rooftop bar of the MET, where after a few strong drinks we were both excitedly talking about all kinds of things and plans for future dates. I still remember how she started grilling me to make sure I was the kind of boyfriend she was looking for. Turns out I had the right answers for her because it just took a few more dates before we officially became boyfriend and girlfriend. Now here we are planning our wedding. Crazy how things work out when you find the right person.
Don't listen to Jake. As anyone knows, those first meetups off the dating app are purely to find out if you actually want to go out with the person and not a first date. An interview per-say for the real thing. We met up at a bar after work and hit it off right away, talking about our common experiences of being in the city, traveling, and visiting Japan. Jake passed the initial phase and our first official date was at the MET. After our initial meetup, Jake was heading out of town, which I was worried about as we were really hitting it off and it can be hard when you aren't seeing the person. It had been a week since we met up and when he asked if I was free Sunday I immediately said yes. I already had plans with my friends, but they were gracious enough to reschedule since I told them about this guy and how I really liked him (I think I still owe them). Anyway, I couldn't believe that he had never been to the MET and I was determined to show him all my favorite places. We spent hours wandering through the many exhibits, even coming across areas I had never been and finally ended up on the rooftop. And yes, I grilled him on all topics which probably aren't first date questions, but he was a trooper and answered all of them. Everything felt so flawless and natural.
