Can't wait to see you there!
At the time, we were both at CCU, sharing the same baseball field. After my practices, I’d always find a way to pass by the left field fence because I knew my baseball crush would be warming up in the bullpen. Eventually, I worked up the courage to ask one of Jake’s friends for his number, and that night we started talking. At first, I wasn’t sure it would go anywhere, I may have even thought he was a little nerdy LOL. During fall break, I even told my mom that I “kind of liked this guy from Arkansas”… which was far from his real hometown in Aurora. Shortly after break, we had ended up at the same party. I instantly spotted him across the room, and froze. I was so nervous and honestly tried to hide hoping that maybe he would come find me but then he recognized me right away. He pointed at me from across the room, to join him in a game. So, I did. He’ll probably tell you I only said about two words that night and was painfully nervous, but apparently I did something right, because the very next day he asked me out on our first date. And the rest is history...
We first met at Colorado Christian University, where I was wrapping up my final years of undergraduate study. Both of us being athletes (baseball and softball) and sharing the same field, I had started noticing her around the field and school as there would be overlap across practice, the weight room, the training room, etc. She always caught my eye, but we had not yet had the chance to formally meet. It was a teammate who first mentioned her to me right before the semester ended heading into our spring season. I was quite intrigued and decided that she would be someone I should pursue. However, we still had yet to meet until one of my teammates hosted a small party and invited several members of the softball team. I had done my due diligence and heard from the grapevine that she would be attending that night, and knew that I finally had the chance to meet her in person. That night at the party I remember talking to friends and seeing her across the room. I was incredibly nervous to go talk to her. I found myself entering a game of water pong and knew that it was likely now or never. I decided to point across the room and ask her to be my partner. Luckily, she agreed and we ended up playing together. She did not really say much other then "hi" (probably too distracted with how good my game is) but I thought she was one of the most beautiful things I had ever seen so... I asked her on a date.
