We met at Bar Louie in Gainesville, Virginia, when I was getting ready to go to a WMZQ tailgate at Jiffy Lube Live. Jake ended up staying past just drinks and hung out through the whole day. We hit it off, hung out the rest of the day, and started running into each other more and more on weekends among our mutual friends. While I was quick to label him as “just a friend”, Jake was persistent in getting to know me. Over the course of the following months, his house became my halfway point in my rush hour traffic going home. A lot of chipotle dinners with a few Stellas and Reese’s later, we finally decided that maybe being just friends wasn’t what we were meant to be after all!
My favorite part of our engagement story is the thought and effort Jake put into it. I had suggested we go for a hike with Zac and Karlee one weekend that we were all in town, and maybe grab some drinks afterwards at Dirt Farm Brewery, similar to what we’d done one weekend in June. We were standing at the peak of the mountain trail when he asked me to marry him. Once I was able to catch my breathe from 1) not being able to climb a mountain well and 2) happy-crying, we hiked back to the car to head to the brewery. Jake mentioned that he had invited our family to join us, but once we got to the brewery I realized he had not only invited all of our family members, but also had my closest friends from out of town all come! I have never been more overjoyed in my life, and it’s all thanks to my ever-so-thoughtful fiancé. Now the fun is just beginning!
We got married December 2020 in a small church ceremony in Springfield, Virginia. This year, we plan to have a one-year anniversary / vow renewal celebration on Saturday, December 4, 2021 at Dover Hall, right outside of Richmond, Virginia. We can’t wait to celebrate with all of our closest friends and family! Check out the rest of the website for more information.
