We booked an AirBnb for a week in Sorrento! It's about a 2 min walk from Villa Antiche Mura and a 15 min walk from downtown Sorrento.
Villa Antiche Mura is located near central Sorrento on the clifftop overlooking the bay. There are many available AirBnbs near the villa itself. However, if you wish for closer proximity to bars and restaurants, and still within walking distance, we recommend staying on or near the main street in Sorrento City Central called Corso Italia. From this area, you will be a 10-15 min walk away from the Villa, and you will be close to more shops, restaurants, and city landmarks.
“Vacation dressy” means comfortable outfits you’d wear on a summer evening out. Think sundresses, linen shirts, khakis, or nice shorts. If you can chop basil and take a great photo in it, you nailed it.
For “garden party formal," think elevated outdoor attire with longer silhouettes. We recommend long dresses, dressy jumpsuits, and suits. The bridesmaids will be wearing long satin dresses in olive green, and the groomsmen will be in black suits. See here for garden party formal attire inspo: https://tinyurl.com/SorrentoAttire
Bren's bridesmaids, Kaleigh and Anya, will be in olive green.
Mid-May in Sorrento is typically warm and sunny, with daytime temperatures around the high 60s to low 70s °F and cooler evenings. The ceremony, cocktail hour, and dinner will be outdoors, and the reception will take place in a marquee on the terrace, so while it will be covered, it will still feel open to the evening air. Consider bringing a light jacket or wrap, especially once the sun sets.
We kindly ask that you refrain from taking photos during the ceremony to allow our professional photographers to capture these special moments. There will be plenty of opportunities for photos during the reception!
Of course. They are part of your story, just as you are part of ours.
We are exploring Italy for our honeymoon! 5/9-16: Sorrento 5/16-21: Rome 5/21-26: Florence 5/26-30: Venice
Yes. Italy. uses Type C and Type F plugs and 220V power. Most phone and laptop chargers are dual-voltage, but you will need a plug adapter.
Wrong! Your passport needs to be valid for 6 months beyond travel dates.
Sorrento is a very walkable city. If you stay at a hotel, and need to travel further away, then the hotel concierge can and often will call a taxi for you. Alternative options include using taxi stands, use a taxi app, or call directly. In Sorrento, taxi stands can be located at the train station, port, and Piazza Tasso. If you wish to use an app then you will need to download "Freenow" which works similar to Uber. Some cities will have a specific phone number to call a taxi as well.
Great question, yes. The city tax is not included in the price of hotels, and this must be paid out in cash when you check out. Prices of city tax can change depending on the city and stars of the hotel. Not all hotels require this but be prepared with extra cash just in case.
Yes. Most restaurants and hotels accept cards. Always carry a little cash for taxis and small shops.
We recommend adding an international plan through your carrier. Wi-Fi is widely available in hotels and cafes.
Tipping is appreciated but not as common as in the USA. Rounding up or leaving 5-10% at restaurants is considered generous.
