How We Met

03.31.09

It all started back when Carlos and I first laid his eyes on each other. While I was outside socializing with some friends on my mother’s truck dressed in my volleyball uniform, noticed that Carlos was staring at me. Now I’m thinking to myself like “omg girl he’s cute, but don’t make it too obvious that you like him too.” It was love at first sight. We literally couldn’t stop staring and blushing at each other. Later that day we were all at the basketball court hanging out, playing, and chilling with our friends. Soon as night hits I’m walking home, and Carlos's friend Alonzo approaches me and say, “hey my brother wants your number.” So, we talked for a while and exchanged phone numbers and social medias. Later that night Carlos texted me and said, “When I saw you, I just knew you were my girl.” My heart melted. From that day on we began to grow closer and closer. No one could break us apart. We spent every day with each other from morning to night. We would sit on the stairs every day and vibe with each other. That was our thing. Every day we would go to the dollar general store and buy snacks, hang out on the stairs, acting silly, taking pictures, and play fighting. We would also chill at his mom house enjoying each other company. Our inseparable bond became us official dating on March 31, 2009. The birth of our first daughter Dakota on July 22, 2014, created a since of completeness for Carlos and me. We experienced a love that was so unconditional & beautiful. We’ve created something we could call our own, which was “FAMILY” & that was everything to us. Four years later baby #2 (Aria) was born August 14, 2018. Aria was so perfect in our eyes. Dakota was so happy to have a little sister. When she first laid eyes on her baby sister, she cried tears of joy! God has blessed us with 2 beautiful daughters and a wonderful family. Carlos and I are forever grateful for the family that we have created. To many more years filled with happiness & love.

The Proposal

03.27.21

Every year on March 27th I have a crawfish boil for my birthday at my mother-in-law house. I invited all my family and friends out to help celebrate this special day with me. Unknown to me, while I was planning my annual birthday celebration, Carlos, with the help of my family and friends was planning a surprise marriage proposal to me. I can remember that day as if it just happened. I had fallen off the mechanical bull that I was riding at my party. As soon as I started to get up from my fall, I saw Carlos on his knees trying to help me up. The words that came out of his mouth at that exact moment is something that I will cherish for the rest of my life. I remember Carlos grabbing my arm while on both knees and saying, “Jaelynn will you marry me?” Of course, I said yes! I was in shock and so happy at the same time. After Carlos placed the ring on my finger, I felt like I had fallen in love all over again. We kissed and I started twerking on my finance’. I just had to show him how excited I was to be his future wife. Carlos did his thang with this one. I just couldn’t believe my eyes. The ring was beautiful. This was the best day ever and I would cherish this moment for the rest of my life. I was most impressed with how Carlos planned that day so good. I was clueless the entire day. The crazy part about it is that all my family and friends knew but my nosey self didn’t figure it out. That day was beautiful and perfect! May God continue to bless Carlos and I with many more years of happiness.
