How We Met

Timing is Everything

Jaelyn and I met online. I was at the point where I was about to give up on love because neither online dating nor in-person dating was working for me. One day, I decided I was going to delete the dating app, but God had other plans. I saw Jaelyn’s pictures and read her profile. I messaged her and we set a date and time to meet. To say “she took my breath away” when she came through the door is an understatement. I never felt anything like that before in my life. I knew from that very moment something was different about her. We indulged in great conversation that I never wanted to end. There was confirmation in the parking garage that God was in the midst of us. Time well-spent together through phone, texting, trips, family/friend gatherings led us here today. Jaelyn, I love you to the moon and back!

Don't Miss Out on Your Blessing

What Really Happened

Trent and I matched on one of those dating sites a couple years back but it wasn't the right time for our love journey to begin. Two years later, boredom led me back to the site where we matched again and Trent text my phone instead of messaging in the app. "Oh, so you still have my number but never hit me?" was my reply to the sporadic text message. We chatted for a few and made idle promises to meet up one day. However, since I never save phone numbers, the next time he text me, I asked him if we were still on for tomorrow, not realizing it was the wrong person. He asked to reschedule for Saturday, to which I reluctantly agreed even though I was annoyed. The next day I realized that I had text the wrong person but I did not say anything because ummm why didn't he know we didn't really have a date scheduled?!? Anyway, Saturday came and I already made up my mind that I was not going to reach out because clearly he's for the streets lol but Trent ended up texting me at which time we FaceTime for the first time and his face lit up when he saw me. Apparently, he was very happy to not be catfished. We set a time and place for our first date and the rest as they say is history. Oh, by the way, he was late for our first date and I actually waited.. talk about divine intervention. Ok in his defense, he was circling for parking but this is my side of the story so I was on time and he was late! LOL I thank God everyday for bringing me such a patient, kind and loving soul who allows me to be vulnerable (and a baby) and never judges me; just loves me, flaws and all. I love you, Trent.

Engagement Story

First comes love then comes marriage.

It was December 11, 2020, we made a weekend trip to Hilton Head, South Carolina. Prior to this trip, I got the blessings of both of Jaelyn's parents to ask for her hand in marriage. I bought the ring with me on this trip just in case God whispered in my ear to proceed to ask her to be my wife. If you know Jaelyn, you know that she likes, sorry LOVES vacations. I planned our weekend for us to get massages, ride a helicopter, and go to a nice Brazilian Steakhouse. Each activity I planned was for a specific reason. The massages were symbolic of relaxation. Massages release tension from muscles and increase blood and oxygen flow. The most important thing is to decrease pain. The helicopter ride symbolized that we are about elevate to new heights in this relationship. The helicopter ride was both exciting and scary which is how life is. However, I wanted to show her that I will protect, cover, and hold her hand the whole ride which I did. We had a great time and talked about the experience the entire car ride back to the resort. Our last destination was a Brazilian Steakhouse. This was important because this symbolized our first date. I knew when I first laid my eyes on Jaelyn that she was special. I am big on energy and Jaelyn's energy was unmatched. God told me to move and that is exactly what I did. I was nervous the whole time while we were at the restaurant. We ate dinner and the staff brought out our dessert for us to indulge in. There was one problem, Jaelyn was full and didn't want dessert lol. However, she read "Will You Marry Me?" on the plate as I got down on one knee and asked for her hand in marriage. Jaelyn was shocked and was more taken back that she didn't see this coming. Jaelyn forgot to answer the question at first but she snapped back and said absolutely she will marry me! We left for Hilton Head as girlfriend and boyfriend and came back as a fiancée and a fiancé. I proposed on December 12, 2020 to the love of my life, and she said YES!
