Our Story

10/20/2018

♡⊹˚₊ YOUNG LOVE ₊˚⊹♡ It was September of 2018, we were both bored sitting in drivers ed. class when we realized we had a mutual friend in the class with us. I was excited to meet someone new, and he was excited a girl was talking to him (we were 15 after all). As we kept talking, he developed a serious crush while I was *completely* oblivious. We texted, hung out outside of school, then finally, I asked him to our Homecoming dance. We initially went as friends, but after a night of major confessions and stupidly obvious realizations, we left as a couple. ♡⊹˚₊ LONG DISTANCE ₊˚⊹♡ After a couple of years together, we had to make a difficult choice. I was college bound and Colin had sold his immortal soul to the government (he joined the Navy). We both knew that we didn't want to come between each other's careers, but couldn't let each other go - so we did long distance for 4 long years. Those four years were filled with long phone calls and Skype sessions, but while Colin was away there were periods of excruciating radio silence occasionally separated by a letter or an email. We made so many trips, flew long flights, drove longer hours, and made the best of breaks to see each other. ♡⊹˚₊ PROPOSAL ₊˚⊹♡ It was a cold November morning, the day after Thanksgiving, when I left to go see Colin's family at Lake Gaston, NC for their "late" Thanksgiving. Once I made the drive, Colin took me over to my family's lake house just across the lake to look at the sunset off the dock. We pulled up to the house and the lights leading down to the dock were shining brightly in the evening sunset, we stared out into the lake for a while before Colin proposed to me right on our family's dock. After the surge of emotions, my sister revealed herself from behind the boat house in a huge Carhartt jacket and with tons of photos. We then all drove to the local brewery to find both of our families waiting there to celebrate us.
