A couple of tips when booking travel here: 1. We are very far from any international airports. Unless you plan to stay for a week or more, we do not recommend flying into San Francisco, Sacramento, or Medford and driving here. It's 6 hours each way, and that's if there are no road closures, traffic, wildfires, or landslide clean-up. 2. Humboldt's environment is magical-- enjoy it, and book yourself an AirBnB or VRBO, and avoid our mediocre hotels. DON'T BOOK IN EUREKA. 3. Be sure to book a rental car. There are taxis, but they are few and far between and rather expensive, and there is no Uber or Lyft. Most experiences and activities we are planning will require driving. Perhaps share a rental car between a small group to make it economical.

Flight

Arcata-Eureka Airport (ACV)

Humboldt County has one small, regional airport. Having flown out of here for a decade, we can assure you that the easiest way to get to Humboldt is to fly right into it. For our east coast friends and family, there is an excellent two-leg flight operated by United that flies into Denver, and then directly into Humboldt. If you are looking for the shortest path, this is the one. It is a bit more expensive than flying to San Francisco (SFO) and driving up, but you'll lose a significant amount of time driving back and forth 6 hours each way.

There are very limited hotels in Humboldt, and most of them will not provide the experience of staying in a beautiful setting. We HIGHLY recommend booking an AirBnb/VRBO in Arcata, Mckinleyville, Trinidad, Fieldbrook, or Blue Lake for the duration of your stay.
