Things To Do
Spend the day at the beach
o Reid State Park (in Georgetown), Popham Beach (in Phippsburg), and Stover’s Point (in Harpswell—small SUV or equivalent needed) are some of our favorites.
Shop 'til you drop
o Check out Main St. in Freeport for outlet shopping and Maine’s famous L.L. Bean flagship store, or Maine St. in Brunswick and Front St. in Bath for some great independent stores.
Take a hike
o Wolfe’s Neck in Freeport (easy and scene of the proposal), and the Cliff Trail in Harpswell (moderate-difficult) are classic rocky coast trails. o Wake up early to snag a parking spot at Morse Mountain (Phippsburg). This 3.8 mile easy out and back trail ends at 2 miles of beautiful sand and sea at Seawall Beach.
Get out on the water
o Rent a kayak or stand-up paddle board from H2Outfitters in Harpswell, or let someone else do the hard work for you and enjoy a lighthouse tour or whale watch out of Capn’ Fish’s Cruises in Boothbay Harbor
Enjoy a scenic drive
o Head to the end of Bailey Island and cross over the Cribstone Bridge to see the amazing views (and fun shopping!) at Lands End. Bonus points if you stop by the Giant’s Stairs or pick up a sweet treat at Island Candy Company on your way home. o Set your destination to Fort Popham (Phippsburg) and explore the Civil-War era defense fortification set against the beautiful views at Popham Beach. o If you are staying longer, continue cruising north on Route 1. We are especially fond of the area of Rockland and Camden for a day trip.
Experience a real Maine lobster shack
o It’s hard to go wrong anywhere when the lobster is this fresh, but for enjoying your meal with a view, we like Five Islands Lobster Co. (Georgetown—a great way to cap off your day at Reid State park!), Erica’s Seafood (Harpswell—cash only), or test out neighboring establishments Red’s Eats and Sprague’s Lobster (Wiscasset) and judge for yourself who makes a better lobster roll.
