Travel Note
We know how tough it can be to travel for weddings, especially during covid times. If you are planning to travel to our wedding, we want you to know that we see and appreciate all the time and effort this takes. We love you! New Haven is a precious gem of a city, but accessibility by airplane is not its strong suit. We have a cute little airport in town (Tweed, HVN) with limited flights. It's worth checking, but you will probably find flying into Hartford more convenient. You might want to look at NYC area airports; there are more flight options in the NYC area, but we find that getting from the airport to New Haven is more difficult when flying into NYC. Uber and Lyft drivers are hesitant to cross state lines. However, you can get from Newark airport to New Haven via Amtrak, and you can get from LaGuardia or JFK to New Haven via subway and Metronorth.

Train
Coming from New York City If you live in New York City or if you'll be visiting, it's easy to get from Grand Central to New Haven's Union Station by train with Metro-North. You can also take Amtrak from NYC to New Haven, but Amtrak is more expensive. Coming From Somewhere That Isn't New York City You'll want to take Amtrak if you're taking the train from basically anywhere else. Book your ticket at least 14 days in advance to get the best price. You can get where you're going slightly faster if you book a ticket on their Acela train. No Matter Where You're Coming From Whether you come on Amtrak or Metro-North, you'll arrive in New Haven's Union Station, which is a little bit outside downtown. Depending on your comfort level, you may be able to walk to your destination, or you may prefer to take a cab/uber/lyft. There is another train station downtown called State Street Station. It serves a few commuter lines that don't interest you.
