Wedding Update

And then there came a pandemic...

To all our favorite people, Many of you have reached out to us over the past few weeks to inquire about the status of our wedding. Our hope has been to keep everything as scheduled, but as the date approaches, it’s looking increasingly likely that we will be unable to celebrate with you all as planned and in a way that feels authentic and meaningful. It is for this reason that we have decided with heavy hearts to postpone the festivities until a date in 2021 that has yet to be determined. We will keep you all updated as plans unfold and can’t wait to celebrate with you whenever and however it may be. While we are deeply saddened that COVID has claimed the battle of the reception in September, we are determined not to let it delay our nuptials. We plan to get married on September 26th surrounded by our parents and siblings. We will greatly miss the presence of our dearest friends and broader families who have played such important roles in our lives individually and as a couple. While we know nothing can replace your physical presence, we are thinking creatively about ways to welcome your support and blessings from afar. We’ll follow up in the next few weeks with the details on what that might look like. Thank you for your understanding and support. With love, Sophia & Jacob

How we met

It's a tale as old as tinder...

A mutual disdain for online dating was turned to gratitude on June 14, 2018. Sophia was living in San Francisco at the time, and Jacob was less than a year in to starting his new practice in Bend. Jacob and Sophia met on Hinge, an online dating service, while Sophia was in Bend on business. Their first date was straight out of the Bend handbook: A brewery meetup. Needless to say, it went well. There were dates four out of the following five days, and Sophia's trip to Bend ended with a promise by Jacob to visit her in San Francisco less than two weeks later. The rest, as they say, is history.

How Jacob Posed the Question

Idaho how he kept it a secret for so long...

Sophia and Jacob made plans to spend new years in Victor, Idaho with friends. The first morning there, Jacob and our friends orchestrated a snowshoe where Sophia and Jacob could be alone. Jacob had found an antique pocket-sized dictionary to store the ring in, knowing Sophia's love for words and old things. He led her to a beautiful overlook of the Grand Tetons, got down one knee, and asked the question. Though butterflies might obscure the details of exactly what Jacob said, they both remember Sophia's response.
