While at school at Purdue University, Olivia worked part-time at Purple Power Boar Stud. Jacob was raising show pigs in Minnesota, and was invited to go on a boar tour throughout Indiana in July of 2022. Little did he know that this trip would change his life forever. One of the first stops on this trip was at Purple Power, where Jacob met Chris, the owner, for the first time. Part way through the visit, Chris stopped and said, “Jacob, I have this girl that works for me that you should date. Her name is Olivia, but I can’t remember her last name.” Jacob was surprised by this comment, and wanted to know more, but Chris just continued on with showing the boars. The next day, Olivia showed up to the boar stud, and Chris was excited to tell her all about this guy “Jared Welch” that he had met the night before. Together, with the help of Chris’s wife Susan, they searched Facebook for the right Jared Welch, but couldn’t find him. Finally, Chris remembered that his name was actually Jacob. They found Jacob’s Instagram, and Olivia sent him a follow request. Pretty shortly after, Jacob messaged Olivia, and they began to get to know one another. Olivia wasn’t sure about the idea of Jacob living in Minnesota at first (she thought it was winter year round and only eskimos lived there), but soon the texts turned into phone calls and they were talking every free minute of the day. Over Labor Day weekend in 2022, Jacob drove back to Indiana, and Jacob and Olivia met in person for the first time. They were both nervous, but it instantly felt like they had already known each other forever and all of the nerves disappeared. They spent that weekend making a plan for when they would see each other next and how they could make their relationship work 500 miles apart from each other. Olivia had just started her sophomore year at Purdue, and so they decided that Jacob would come to Indiana once a month, and Olivia would go to Minnesota when she had longer breaks from school. They kept this up, with the occasional meet-up half way in Moline, IL with a 4-4-4 (drive 4 hours, hang out for 4 hours, and drive back home 4 hours) when they really needed to see each other. On June 30, 2024, Jacob proposed to Olivia. She said yes (obviously!) and the wedding planning began. In August 2024 Olivia started her final semester at Purdue, graduating in December. She then moved to Minnesota in January 2025, and her and Jacob got to end their long distance relationship and begin living their lives together.
