Morghan & Jacob's Story

A Story of Love

In July of 2014, Morghan and Jacob met during Morghan's first year of marching band camp at Elmwood High School, where they both attended. Considering Morghan played the flute and Jacob played the trumpet, it seems to be fate that put the two next to each other in one of the show's formations. She couldn't avoid Jacob's funny complaints about the band director or the snapchats of his chunky cat that he continued to send to her until she replied. Today, Morghan is still laughing at Jacob's complaining, and the couple has two cats together who they love very much. Most importantly, the couple is preparing to celebrate their never-ending love for one another with a beautiful wedding and their 8 year anniversary the following day.

Introduction

As a close friend of the couple, I, Ciaira Brown, have designed this website to provide all the information necessary for Morghan and Jacob's wedding weekend as well as celebrate the couple's journey together so far. The tabs at the top of this page are sorted to help you find the specific information you need. If you find yourself still having questions or concerns, however, please visit the FAQs page for contact information so that you can be fully prepared for the weekend getaway. For more background information on the couple, continue reading below:

First Date

The couple's first date was to see the movie Annabelle in theaters. While they were both too young to drive themselves, Morghan's mom took them and let them sit a row behind her. Neither of them enjoyed the movie much, so they spent most of the movie joking around and talking. Afterwards, Morghan and her mom dropped Jacob off at home, and apparently Jacob was at least a little on edge from the movie because his cat running at him in the dark once he opened the door to his house was enough to scare him and is something that the couple still joke about to this day.

Favorite Hobbies

The couple's favorite hobby to partake in together is going to all sorts of concerts - from the Toledo Symphony Orchestra to artists like Tech N9ne and John Bellion. Before Covid, the couple had made it to see Tech N9ne in Cleveland 3 years in a row! However, on a more regular basis, the couple enjoys finding scary movies that the other person hasn't seen and watching them together.

Favorite Characteristics

Morghan's favorite thing about Jacob is how openly affectionate he is. She loves how he is always wanting to hold her hand in public or give her a kiss at the end of a phone call. She says "he isn't afraid to show his affection in front of others!" Jacob's favorite thing about Morghan is her intelligence and drive. He says "she gets stuff done when she needs to."

Catching Each Other's Eye

Morghan first noticed Jacob because of how good of a trumpet player he was. Since they were placed next to each other in band, she got to hear him play and was amazed at his skill. From there, he further caught her attention by showing how funny he is. Jacob first noticed Morghan because of her looks, but maybe not in the way one would think. He said, "she had dark red hair and a Pokemon shirt on, so she seemed like someone I'd love to talk to!"

Pet Peeves

Morghan's biggest pet peeve about Jacob is how quickly he goes through laundry. She stated "I swear, 75% of the laundry that I do is his." Jacob refused to answer what his biggest pet peeve about Morghan is. While this could be because he's not trying to get himself in trouble, I choose to believe it's because he can't think of one.

Relationship Roles

When asked "who wears the pants" in the relationship, the couple decided that neither one does. Morghan tends to take care of things like the financial aspects of the relationship while Jacob does a lot more of the physical labor, like taking care of the cars and cleaning. "We both have parts of our relationship where we take charge more," says Morghan.

Sweethearts' Soundtrack

Morghan admits that the couple has had a few different songs over the almost 8 years they've been together; however, their current song is "Hand Me Downs" by one of their favorite artists, Mac Miller. The song was released in 2020, after the artist's death, and the couple plans to make this the song that plays for their first dance together as husband and wife at the ceremony of their wedding.

Making It Official

The couple explains that they are most excited to be married so they can officially call each other husband and wife. After being together for almost 8 years and having lived together for over 3 of those years, they sort of feel as though they've been "married" for awhile, but they're really looking forward to having the official title.

The Proposal

On their first solo trip to Red River Gorge, Kentucky, Morghan and Jacob wanted some alone time for a late celebration of Morghan's birthday. The second day of the trip, they woke up at 5am to hike up to the top of the Natural Bridge to watch the sunrise. Since this was the middle of August, the hike was long, hot, and humid, and once they reached the top they actually were unable to see the sunrise due to cloud coverage. Regardless, Morghan describes the scene of "being so close to the clouds with almost no one else around" as a beautiful one. After their fill of the bridge, Jacob and Morghan headed to the lookout not too far away, where Jacob pulled out of his bookbag a late birthday present for Morghan to open. The present was a very rare statue from Bioshock, one of Morghan's favorite video games, and attached to the statue was a note asking Morghan to marry him. At this point, Jacob was on one knee with a jewelry box in his hand, containing the engagement ring. After Morghan finished crying, the couple spent some more time alone at the lookout and at Lover's Leap (an observation deck overhanging a cliff on the trail that is titled so because of a legend about two forbidden lovers who leapt to their death in order to escape life without one another). Morghan and Jacob then called family and close friends to tell them the news before heading back down the trail and starting their journey of being engaged.

A Best Friend's POV

I have known Morghan since we were very young. She moved to the area, we started school together, we participated in Girl Scouts together, and we got along immediately. Even though we were young, I knew Morghan was the kind of person I wanted to keep in my life. She was kind, caring, funny, insanely intelligent, and just a genuine person all around. Morghan and I were always kept close by circumstance because we participated in a lot of the same activities - from club volleyball and band, to working in the same grocery store and taking part in pretty much every extracurricular club and AP class possible. Throughout those circumstances and the many years, Morghan became one of my absolute best friends. Even after graduation, Morghan and I have managed to stay close (although we don't get to see each other as much as we'd like to anymore). I know that she is always there for me whenever I need it, and she deserves nothing but the best in life. I have also known Jacob for many years now. While our relationship wasn't quite the same as Morghan and I's, I could tell he was a really great guy. When the couple got together, I knew right away that they were a perfect match. When Morghan told me they had gotten engaged, I couldn't help but cry tears of joy for her. Jacob and Morghan make each other happy, and they are an exceptional example of true love. I am honored to be a part of celebrating the relationship of such a great couple of people.

Tips for a Successful Relationship

Jacob and Morghan agree that communication should be the number one priority in a relationship. They stated that probably 99% of the arguments they've had came from improper communication and could have been easily solved by just communicating more clearly. Additionally, the couple points out how important it is to make time for each other each day, no matter how small it is.
