Michaela came to First Baptist simply hoping to find a sense of community, but God had something even greater in store. The moment she saw Jacob walk in, she thought, “That’s him.” A few days later, on October 15th, she was invited to a Life Group… and there he was again. Jacob couldn’t take his eyes off her, though he insists he was “playing the long game.” They talked for a while that night but didn’t exchange information just yet. The following Sunday, Michaela was invited to lunch with Jacob’s friend group at Fuji, where the two spent the entire time flirting and laughing. Afterward, they lingered at Starbucks, talking for hours. Michaela made a paper airplane out of scrap paper and handed it to Jacob before leaving, a small, playful moment that became their first memory together. Later that evening, Jacob sent a video of the plane flying (poorly) with the caption, “Blank and doesn’t fly. What a waste.” That message led to sharing numbers, their first date on October 21st, and by October 27th, Jacob officially asked Michaela to be his girlfriend. The rest, as they say, is history, a story written by God and filled with laughter, grace, and love ever since.
