New places, new people, new best friends. Never knowing we were making lifelong connections. That year, Jake would just be Kelly’s little brother. Throughout the years they would touch base and reconnect over similar life lessons and experiences. Who would have ever imagined that 21 years later Lindsey would be dating her best friends little brother?!
Jake’s birthday was the day before and we had all planned to go to The Hill for birthday dinner. His sister Lori asked if we were up for a visit to the Aquarium before hand, I was not, I had a busy morning full of errands planned for him and I. We get to the Aquarium and Lori calls and says she is running behind and that the tickets for our time slot we’re sold out. Incoming Lindsey mood swing. Jake kindly asks if I want to ride The Wheel and I grumpily declined. The look of disappointment on his face changed my mind. We stood in the baking sun for what seemed like an eternity and finally were able to get on the ride. As I’m looking over my shoulder at the City Soccer Stadium and Maggie O’briens I hear what sounds like him fainting and sliding out of his seat! It’s so hot in here did he just pass out?! All I could think of was where is the emergency button the ride operator had talked about! I looked over and he was down on one knee. I screamed, shouted "YES," and we were engaged. We weren’t going to the Aquarium at all! We're so excited to celebrate this next chapter of our lives with you.
