Christy and Jake were both having a pool day with their friends for Memorial Day Weekend in Greensboro, NC. Christy spied Jake from across the pool and figured he must have just moved since she had never seen him before (and it's a pretty small town). Both of them were too nervous to introduce themselves, but a couple weekends later they met again at the pool and exchanged numbers. They went out on a couple dates and the rest is history!

Christy was visiting Jake in Evanston, IL where he was living while he finished grad school in May 2024. Jake had planned a weekend full of events - a Cubs game, a dumpling tour in Chicago, and a picnic on the beach where he ultimately got down on one knee and asked Christy to marry him. Afterwards, they headed into Chicago for a dinner reservation where a few of their closest friends were waiting to surprise Christy and celebrate!

The VanLandingham Estate boasts a history dating back to the early 20th century. Originally constructed in 1913 by the VanLandingham family, the estate began as a modest two-story family residence surrounded by sprawling grounds. Over the years, the estate evolved into a distinctive bed and breakfast known as the VanLandingham Inn, offering Southern hospitality and elegant accommodations. A third floor was added as the host's quarters, and is still largely intact and furnished as a bedroom today. While the Estate no longer hosts guests overnight, the property and grounds stand as a cherished venue for weddings, events, and celebrations. We are excited for the historic Southern landmark to become part of our journey.
