Mijas Pueblo

Mijas Pueblo

Mijas, AN 29650, Spain

We recommend staying here June 18th - June 20th. Our rehearsal dinner is in Mijas on June 18th. Arrive the morning of June 18th to leisurely explore Mijas - it's a pretty cute (tiny) town! Here are a few shops and restaurants to consider visiting: 1. Aroma Cafe & Secret Garden. Great lunch spot! 2. Mayan Monkey Chocolate Factory. There are a few locations around Mijas for a treat. 3. Iroko. Art and tapas bar that's the perfect spot for a drink or snack. 4. Spanish Ceramic Paradise. If you're looking for a handmade souvenir, this is your place.

Marbella

Marbella

Marbella, AN, Spain

Distance from Mijas: 30 minutes. This is where we took our engagement photos! Marbella is a stunning coastal town with some of the best tapas spots around. If you're in Mijas for 3 days, we recommend spending an afternoon and evening shopping and tapas hopping in Marbella. To get there from Mija: take an Uber or taxi. Tapas spots: 1. Taberna La Nina del Pisto. Get here a few minutes before they open, have a few bites, and move on to the next! And be sure to order a glass of vermut (sweet vermouth). 2. Taberna El Bordón Marbella. Dinner spots: 1. Stuzzikini. Incredible Italian food, if you're tapa'd out. Things to do: 1. Stroll around Marbella center. Navigating to 'Mauro Heladeria' will put you in the main square. 2. Walk down towards the ocean (navigate to 'Fuente Virgen del Rocio') which is a nice park a few blocks from the beach.

Fuengirola

Fuengirola

Fuengirola, AN 29640, Spain

Distance from Mijas: 15 minutes by bus or car. There is a bus from Mijas's main square - check out bus times in person for the most up to date schedule. Or, take a quick Uber or taxi. Fuengirola is a great half day activity if you have extra time in Mijas. What to do: 1. Visit the Fuengirola Castle (Castillo Sohail), a Moorish fortress with panoramic views of the town and coast. 2. Walk along the Puerto Deportivo marina and enjoy the lively atmosphere. 3. Enjoy the beaches of Playa de los Boliches or Playa de Fuengirola.

Málaga

Málaga

Ronda, AN 29400, Spain

Distance from Mijas: 30 minutes. You could easily spend a day or two in Malaga (and will likely initially arrive by plane or train). It's a bustling city, compared to Mijas, so get your Zara shopping done here! Top things to do: 1. Visit the Alcazaba. This impressive Moorish fortress-palace is one of Málaga's most iconic landmarks. Located on a hill, it offers stunning views of the city and the Mediterranean Sea. Expect a hike up hundreds of stairs to the top (it's worth it)! 2. Visit the Picasso museum. Málaga is the birthplace of Pablo Picasso, and this museum houses an extensive collection of his works. 3. Stroll along Calle Larios, a pedestrian only shopping street. 4. Eat some tapas and do some people-watching at El Pimpi. Arrive between 2 - 4pm for an authentic experience.
