How We Met

Haley and I first crossed paths at a crowded Bloomington house party (thrown by my good friend, Braxton - shoutout to this wedding attendee). Haley and I were both students at IU. She was living in a dorm nearby and caught wind of the house party, so she showed up with her gang, which included her twin brother. I continuously glanced at Haley. I was vying for her to lock eyes with me and caught her glance. Later that evening she was out on the porch, so I approached her and we started talking, and I grew more curious. As the night ended, I had no clue whether we'd meet again. But as you have it, I noticed a jean jacket had been left behind - it was hers. This was greater than the Golden Ticket from Willie Wonka. Time passed. It was already next semester. But somewhere the stars aligned and Haley and I ended up having a class together. Of course she caught my attention, just as she had the previous Fall. It took a few classes, but eventually I let her know that I had her jean jacket, and I invited her over (a few times) to retrieve it. One day she finally took me up on the offer (she must have really loved that jacket), but as it turned out - I then realized I had actually LOST her jacket. Still, through this saga, we finally exchanged numbers and began texting here and there. Summer passed (with only a few texts between us). School started again. I went out on a limb, texting her to see if she wanted to grab a milkshake. She said yes! I asked if I could pick her up and we realized we were living directly across the street from each other! After a few weeks of nights out, breakfast dates and more milkshakes, I asked her to be my girlfriend at the end of the school year. That is how our story without an end - began!

The Proposal

Jacob planned a Southwest road trip that we'd take over the 4th of July holiday. I was so excited. I love road trips and had never been on one with Jacob. High in anticipation, we counted down the days and eventually left for the desert roads. We felt far away from the world, just him and I. We hiked Guadalupe Peak (which was no easy feat), explored the Carlsbad Caverns (the most mysterious caves), viewed the bats, and admired the gorgeous night skies. During the trip, Jacob took me to the White Sands National Monument - a strikingly beautiful white sand landscape. It was here that he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him, and I said "of course". The next day, we headed to Albuquerque to celebrate us! - H
