-Summer of 2022- Jaclyn was beginning her first post-college job, and Zach was wrapping up another year at his financial firm. It was just another day at work for Jaclyn and just another round of golf for Zach—or so they thought... -Zach- Luke and I had recently reconnected and rekindled our friendship, leading to regular weekend golf outings. During one of our rounds, Luke brought up his new job and mentioned a colleague—a girl he thought would be a perfect match for me. That girl was Jaclyn. I asked to see a photo of Jaclyn and laughed out loud, saying I could never pull it off with a girl like her. Luke even offered to speak to her the next day and arrange a date for us. While I was excited, I couldn’t help but feel a surge of nerves. Determined to make a good impression, I started brainstorming and eventually settled on a pretty cheesy but heartfelt direct message on Instagram to break the ice. -Jaclyn- During one of our regular morning coffee catchups, Luke and I were chatting when he started talking about an old friend of his, Zach. Luke went on about what a great guy Zach was, leaving me a bit puzzled as to why he was showering his friend with so much praise. Then, it all clicked—Luke said he thought Zach and I would make a perfect pair and how he wanted to set us up on a date to officially meet. I agreed to go on a date with this mystery man, but I made it clear to Luke not to get his hopes up. I wasn't entirely interested, nor was I ready to settle down, especially since I had just embarked on my career and was getting used to my new rhythm post-college. When I began explaining my apprehensions, Luke cut me off mid-sentence. He firmly said he wouldn't even consider setting me up with Zach unless I was ready to get married, because in his mind, there was no doubt—I would absolutely end up marrying Zach once I met him. I have to admit, there was a part of me that was a bit intrigued to see what all the fuss was about, so I agreed to go on a date with him and soon received the cheesiest direct message on Instagram asking me to grab a drink sometime. -Us- We met at the Volstead House Speakeasy on a Thursday night. Jaclyn was a fashionable 15 minutes late, and Zach was convinced she wasn't going to show. Thankfully, she did, because it was the best first date either of us could have imagined. It was like we had known each other for years. We didn't want it to end, soon closing the place down. Two years of laughing, dancing, hardships, glasses of Cabernet Sauvignon, and countless shared memories brought us to Zach's family cabin at 8 o'clock in the morning. Zach led Jaclyn down to the end of the peninsula with his family dog, Beau, where he got down on one knee and asked for forever. And she said YES!
