The AC Hotel is in this neighborhood of the city and we lived here our first year in Des Moines. There's lots of shops, restaurants and breweries. Go for a walk and explore!
Des Moines' Downtown Farmers’ Market
Saturday Mornings | 8:00am - 12:00pm This farmers' market is legit. Lots of vendors with tasty food for you to enjoy while you stroll through the streets taking in all the local produce, meat, cheeses, plants and art. There's live music, tasty beverages and lots of happy locals ready to greet you. Fun for all ages and a Des Moines staple!
The Breakfast Club
A great breakfast spot that is walkable from the AC Hotel. Go early (before 9:30) to avoid a wait as this is a popular place! There's ample vegan and vegetarian options. Meat eaters, there's plenty for you as well. Great brunch cocktails! Indoor and outdoor seating.

A local coffee shop/quick breakfast spot just steps away from the AC Hotel.
The Iowa Taproom
If you like beer, check this place out. They have 99 taps from over 35 Iowa craft breweries. But it's not just beer, they also have really good elevated bar food. Kade loves their pork chop. Jaclyn loves their Asian salad (and she's NOT a salad chick).

Elevated Italian food. A great lunch spot. An awesome dinner spot. Dinner is a prix fixe menu. Make reservations!
