FAQs

Question

What will the weather be like?

Answer

The average high in early December is 47 degrees and the average low is 32 degrees. Although this time last year it got up to 57 degrees almost every day in the first 2 weeks of December (fingers crossed that happens again) Whippoorwill Hill is an indoor/outdoor venue. The barn doors can be opened or closed depending on the weather. There will also be plenty of propane heaters inside. The ceremony may be partly outside depending on the weather so please plan on bringing a coat just in case. The barn floors are concrete and may get chilly throughout the night. Shoes with a substantial sole are recommended.

Question

Are you taking any COVID precautions?

Answer

Yes! This venue will be at 1/4 capacity so there is plenty of space. We will seat families together. Tables hold 8-9 chairs but we will only have 4-6 to allow for more space. There will also be ample space between tables - you will not be back to back with someone. We will have at least one barn door open for some fresh air. There are also outdoor gathering areas. Masks will be at the front for you to grab. There will be plenty of hand sanitizer available. We are doing buffet style but it will be a SERVED buffet so people are not touching food or utensils. If you don’t feel comfortable staying for the entirety of the reception, there is an option to stay for only the ceremony - please indicate this in your RSVP. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to one of us should you have any questions or concerns!

Question

What is the parking situation?

Answer

Plenty!! Also, if you type in “Whippoorwill Hill” into your phone maps, it will sometimes give you 2 routes to choose from (a main & back entrance). Please go to the RAYLETOWN address as that is the main entrance where the parking lot is.

Question

What is COVID like in Bloomington?

Answer

At the time of the wedding, students will be home for winter term so Bloomington will be around 1/2 capacity of what it usually is. Bloomington is currently trending better than the rest of the state of Indiana woo-hoo!! We will update this FAQ with any new information that comes out.
