I had the honor of standing next to her on her wedding day and feel privileged to have her next to me at mine.

Wifey for lifey. From childhood to motherhood, she has been my number-one supporter. She is always in my corner, her loyalty has no bounds, and her love runs even deeper. I worry she would actually kill for me. And despite us having loving husbands, I know we will eventually end up together.

Cousins by chance, best friends by choice. I've always admired Richelle's unwavering ability to see the best in people, and I have felt so lucky to have grown up together. I was so worried that when she moved away, we would lose our bond, but it only made it stronger. Watching her plant roots and grow her family in the PNW has inspired us to follow suit, and hopefully, one day soon, our children will be cousins who grow up together, too.

Sister from another mister that went and married my mom. #sistermom Liz and I hit it off with our shared interests — dry humor and sarcasm, along with our love for inappropriate jokes and caffeine addictions. Liz is my first call for any and every question and thought I need to say aloud. She's my Doctor Google, my internet warrior, and my online detective, she will no doubt be my one phone call... that is if I ever need to make the one phone call. Thank you for making "your mom" jokes cool again.

The second time I fell in love working behind the counter at Starbucks was with this babe. David, you are a walking paradox. The most petty yet kind, ambitious but wild, cautious but loving person I have ever known.

Helen came into my life as Edwin's best friend, and stereotypically, I was unsure how we would get along — the girl best friend and the new girlfriend? Cliche, I know. But the plot twist: Helen has the biggest, kindest heart and welcomes everyone with love. I am beyond grateful Edwin brought her into my life. We couldn't have chosen a more loving Godmother for Leo.

Alley is my sweet sister-in-law, patient wife to my brother Jake, and world-class mom to my niece Scarlet and nephew Sonny. It only took us eight years, but we finally convinced her California is cooler than North Carolina. Now that they live on the West Coast, we look forward to making many family memories together!

Brotherhood Established in 2007 Nic and Edwin met at punk shows in the mid-late 2000s when they were still in high school and immediately hit it off. Their friendship was solidified in the late 2000s watching Kobe Bryant lead the Los Angeles Lakers to back-to-back championships. Edwin got Nic into Hatebreed. Nic got Edwin into vegetarianism.

Danny

Brotherhood Established in 2007 Danny(aka Dinny) is Nic's older brother. Danny and Edwin also met in their teenage punk years and became very close. So close in fact, they moved in with each other and lived together throughout their 20s. Danny is Edwin's son's Godfather and will help Edwin teach Leo about the immortal science.

Austin

Brotherhood Established 2008 Austin and Edwin met on Xbox Live in 2008. They played videogames together for about 8 years before Edwin finally flew to New York to meet his friend in 2016. They've visited each other many times since. Edwin and Austin are both raising babies nowadays and no longer play videogames together but talk on the phone practically every day.

Brotherhood Established in 2012 Eli and Edwin met working at Starbucks. Eli and Edwin's friendship was a love/hate relationship at first. Eli and Edwin spent most of their time at work arguing with each other about movies and talking about the A Song of Ice and Fire books. Eli and Edwin's friendship nowadays is made up entirely of love, and Eli will be Edwin's Sponsor at his RCIA: Confirmation in April.

Brotherhood Established in 2008 Alex is Nic and Danny's youngest brother. Edwin met Alex through his brothers in the late 2000s. Alex and Edwin have also lived together and Edwin has proudly watched Alex travel the world with his music and become an awesome tattoo artist.

Brotherhood Established in 2012 Nick and Edwin worked together at Starbucks and bonded immediately over their love of Los Angeles sports teams. Edwin vicariously watches Nick's off-road truck & hiking videos, hoping to one day join him with Baby Leo.
