Every great love story starts somewhere, and ours began at URI, or more specifically, on the stairs of the Chi Phi frat house. Between our campus adventures, shots of Sailor Jerry, and many shared Eggo’s, our relationship began to grow into something special. Finally after three years of endless texting and the constant argument as to whether or not we were “just friends,” the decision to be together was made official on 1/1/13. Fast-forward to 2014, we started to plan our lives outside of campus and frat parties. With everything lined up, jobs accepted in Rhode Island, an opportunity of a lifetime unexpectedly arrived. What’s that saying about best laid plans? So, we took what little time we had to adjust to the news of graduate school in Plattsburgh, and start a new plan. While another few years of road-tripping between NY and RI wasn’t ideal, we weren’t interested in the alternatives. Admittedly, it was the most difficult part of our relationship to date. But, from the struggle of long-distance, we each experienced a deeper layer to our love and admiration for one another. We both agree that our relationship would not nearly be the same had we both spent those few years in Providence together rather than doing the distance. So naturally, our engagement story also took a similar loop. Our friendship began on the Chi Phi steps, and our relationship took its next big step where everything began, too. We spent the entire day doing what we loved the most during our time at URI. After spending the night at Grey Sail, we headed to the beach, then to Mews Tavern for our favorite pink panther calzone, and finally to campus. It was then, on the URI Quad that Dennis popped the question. It was the perfect start to our next chapter. Looking back at our story, we are so grateful for the experiences we shared together, the friends and family who supported us, and the many adventures that await us. We are so excited to celebrate the next chapter of our lives with all of you!
