Camelback Mountain, located between Phoenix and Scottsdale, offers two steep, strenuous hiking trails (Echo Canyon and Cholla) with 360-degree views, popular during fall-spring. Echo Canyon Trail: 2.4-mile roundtrip. Very steep, features handrails and boulder scrambling. Features a paved lot that fills early, restrooms, and water. Cholla Trail: 2.7-mile roundtrip. Generally considered slightly less steep than Echo, but still strenuous, with more hiking on ridge lines and some rock scrambling. Parking & Access Echo Canyon: 4925 E McDonald Dr. Large, free parking lot that closes when full. Cholla Trail: 5150 N Invergordon Rd. No dedicated lot; limited, strict street parking on the west side of Invergordon Road. Tips: Parking is prohibited on most surrounding residential streets. Violators will be towed. Arrive before 6:30 AM or visit on weekdays to secure a spot.
