Our Story

On August 19, 2018, just two days after Taylor’s 21st birthday, she walked into Barry’s in Lincoln, Nebraska, ready to finally enjoy the bar scene. It was a Sunday afternoon before college classes started back up and that’s when she met the first boy she ever talked to at a bar: Jackson. Now, the story of how they met depends entirely on who you ask. Jackson swears he was dominating a bags tournament while Taylor gazed at him from across the bar, already in love. In reality, he and his partner were eliminated in the first round, by two girls. Either way, they struck up a conversation that day and never really stopped. It was love at first sight, no matter how selective their memories are of that day. Four years later, their story continued in Arizona. They traded Midwest winters for sunshine, and started building a life full of golf days (for Jackson) and elite cart-riding (for Taylor), road trips, and weekend getaways. They’ve loved exploring new spots around the state, visiting family back in Nebraska and watching Jackson’s nieces and nephews grow up. It was in San Diego that Jackson decided to propose. Taylor’s Type A personality had made it clear: no proposal before the age of 27. So in classic Jackson fashion, he waited until exactly one day before her 27th birthday to pop the question—on the beach, surrounded by family and friends who somehow managed to keep the whole thing a surprise. He even coordinated with Taylor’s parents to fly in and be part of the celebration, along with their close family friends Ralph and Rachel. That night, after all the champagne and chaos, Taylor and Jackson asked Ralph if he’d do them the honor of marrying them. Now here they are—still laughing, still debating who remembers that day at Barry’s more accurately, and still very much a team (except when playing bags).
