Texas Renaissance Festival
A bit of a drive (approx. 1 hr-1hr 30 min) but well worth it! The first weekend of the season and open on Sunday if you have the post-wedding stamina (the theme of the week is Ocktoberfest)! The largest Ren Faire in the nation -- 55 acres and 25 stages. Katherine's dad has been taking her here since she was 13. Jack and Katherine love watching the Shakespeare-abridged/vaudeville-style show "Sound and Fury" when it was playing in both TX and CA! Other shows of note are Birds of Prey (birds!) Arsene (comedy/magic/juggling), and Texas Brass Ensemble. Costumes optional. REN FAIRE -- Katherine and Jack plan to get there @ 9:30 AM. We'll try to go to these events so you know where to find us! Newly renovated. Baby Goeldi monkey (named Betty after Betty White), two baby elephants, and two blue-billed curassow chicks! The zoo also has a red panda, komodo dragon, ocelot, okapi, etc.!

This restaurant opened back in 1972 as purely vegetarian but gradually added to their offerings over the years and now has quite an extensive and eclectic menu. Indoor and outdoor seating, check out the LOTR memorabilia!
