Our story begins like all great Millennial love stories...on a dating app. Erica liked that Jackson's profile made her laugh and mentioned his love of improv. Jackson was immediately charmed by Erica's smile. We started an exchange about trivia skills and a mutual love of living in Uptown, which led us to meet up for a first date at LynLake Brewery. About five minutes into that first date, we'd realized that we knew lots of the same people (via Huge Theater), shared a love of musicals and reading historical nonfiction, and made each other smile. Erica revealed that Jackson was actually the second guy she'd gone on a date with that had worked as Sharkey, the mascot of Sea Life Aquarium at the Mall of America. Following up on that first evening, Erica almost had Jackson fooled when she told him that she'd "already moved on to another Sharkey." Joke's on her, because it turned out that Jackson's the one true mascot of her heart. Over the last four years, we've shared some amazing adventures (moving in together at the start of a global pandemic is no biggie, right?), too many laughs and "bits" to count, and the company of lifelong (and now mutual) best friends. We have so much fun together--whether we're having a fancy night out, exploring a new city, or just spending a night in with Netflix and takeout. On October 30, 2021, Jackson popped the question in one of our favorite places (the shore of Lake of the Isles) after a lazy breakfast at our favorite local diner. Erica was surprised because she did NOT look cute and almost ruined the moment by exclaiming about an interesting duck. Jackson got down on his knee and gave Erica her new favorite accessory--the ring he had made in cahoots with Erica's mom using the stone from her late grandma's wedding ring. That night, we went to a Halloween party hosted by our friends Alex and Olivia (known by us as the "St. Paul Blondes") dressed as children's cooking show characters, Waffles and Mochi. We can't wait to celebrate our love with friends and family, and are looking forward many shared adventures ahead!
