Arrive at the park entrance by 3 pm. It is about a 30 minute drive into the park from the west (main) entrance. Give yourself about 30 minutes to park and walk to the top of the formation.
Unless you have a park pass or all parks pass for national parks, yes you will have to pay the $30 day pass fee. The day pass gives access to JTNP for seven from the date of purchase. Carpooling is recommended since parking inside might be limited.
The best place to park is at the Intersection rock parking lot. This is the best place to find parking if you don't know your way around the park. Or on barker dam road, directly north west of Cyclops rock, there is a small turnout on the right side of the road. Carpooling is encouraged.
See attached video link below. We have also provided a map at the top of this page for your convince. https://youtu.be/MVFjt7oMvhY Please make sure to watch the video beforehand since there is no reception in the park. We will also have little posts and flags in order to guide guests in the right direction. Please stay on marked trails and do not trample vegetation.
It takes about 5-15 minutes to walk to the top depending on your comfort level. There is some level of scrambling involved in order to get started. We will have a ladder/step stool provided at the very bottom in order to make things easier. There will also be plenty of friends of ours who can help those in need. Flat shoes, sneakers, approach shoes, or barefoot is recommended for this section. Heels and/or wedges would make the approach more challenging. Here is our instructional video to help you along the way. https://youtu.be/MVFjt7oMvhY
We realize this is an involved adventure for the ceremony. We will be holding a secondary ceremony at the location of the reception once we are finished in the park. Some time close to 6:15.
We would appreciate if guest dressed to impress. But we also want guests to be comfortable since this is an outdoor wedding.
We recommend bringing two pairs of shoes. This way you can be comfortable and safe during the ceremony, and then all glam once you are off the formation.
Realizing that many people do have children, but with the smaller space and outdoor nature of the wedding, it would be a high consideration to find childcare.
Typical weather during the day is sunny and mid 70's with nights dropping to upper 50's. For the reception there is a house on site, however, not enough space to cater an indoor reception. Please bring warm layers if you chill easy.
