Jack and Marie-Elena first met at Happy Hours Preschool in 2004. In the following years, they were in each other's kindergarten and second grade classes at Winthrop Elementary school in Melrose, MA. They attended separate middle and high schools, and didn't reconnect until years later. In November 2021, Karen Crowley and Kristen Gerety (their moms) bumped into each other at Whole Foods, and mentioned that Jack and Marie-Elena would make a good couple. The moms went home and told each of them to reach out to one another, but neither did! It wasn't until one month later on Christmas Day, when Marie-Elena and Jack reconnected.
