Wedding Party

Colonel (Ret) Michael Daniels

Best Man

Mike and Jack met in the fall of 1989 through the EIU ROTC program. Mike would become an Army Lieutenant, Jack a Marine Lieutenant. Mike was from the north suburbs and Jack from the south. Yet Mike and Jack became best of friends in college. I think 1/2 the sorority girls on campus thought Mike was a Delta Chi, the other 1/2 thought I was a Delta Tau Delta because Mike and I so often attended each others functions. I'm thankful for the decades of Mike's friendship, mentorship and loyalty. I'm honored that he will be my best man.

Mrs. Maria Hayes

Maid of Honor

Also known as "My Maria" because everyone she comes in contact with loves her and she becomes everyone's "My Maria". Maria and I became friends while working together at Ball Hospital and shared a "Tuesday girls lunch" group. Our lunch group does not meet anymore but Maria remains one of my best friends and someone I know I can always count on. She has been there with me through my lowest times, and I am so thankful to have her with me to celebrate one of the best times. We share a love of horses and rode horses together. She loves all things cowgirl and her horse Rowdy is as special as she is. I was also privileged to work with her husband Brad at BMH ER. Maria is generous, smart, spirited, funny, adorable with a heart of gold. I know I can always count on "My Maria".

LtCol. William (Whit) Johnson

Groomsman / Commander of Sword Detail

Whit and Jack met in March of 1995 at the US Marine Corps' Officer Basic School. Whit and Jack were squad-mates and lived across the hall from each other. Whit and his two Texas Aggie classmates took in Jack as the token "yankee", But to their dismay, it was Jack that proved himself the real cowboy after riding the mechanical bull longer than any of the Texas trio. Jack was there when Whit met Alicia and she soon became part of the "click". Just prior to graduation, Jack had the honor of escorting Alicia onto stage where Whit was waiting to propose in front of 150 Lieutenants, staff and their guests. Later that year, Jack was honored to be part of Alicia and Whit's wedding and he looks forward to having this wonderful couple join him and Cindy for their special day.

Mrs. Debbie Kizer

Bridesmaid

My wonderful sister Debbie who has been there for me more times than I can count. I don't know what I would do without her. She travels the world working as a project manager for Roche Diagnostics and loves what she does. She is super organized and always gives me great advice, and I do call her for advice often. Debbie and I have been through heck together, and it hasn't always been easy, but she is a steady source of strength to me in this life, and I am so grateful to have her. From the days when she took me and my friends on Kings Island trips, taught me how to do my hair and makeup, to helping pick up the pieces when we lost both our parents one year apart, my sister Debbie is always there. She has a hilarious sense of humor, scuba dives, and is always up for an adventure.

Mr. Daniel Manning

Groomsman

It was 1986, sophomore year of High School, I was the worst Clarinet player which meant I sat next to the worst Saxophone players in band. Though I really was bad, truth be told, Dan was good, but there was some tough competition. None the less, we quickly became close friends, spending weekends at each others homes, going on long distance biking/camping weekends and at 16 with license in hand, going on weekend ski trips to Wisconsin and Michigan. In college we ran in different circles of friends, but those circles usually intersected and we spent many a college nights learning the ways of life. Though Dan may not eat split pea soup to save his own life, he'd give the shirt off his back to save another's life. "Padrino Dan" has always been there when I needed him, and is loved by us all.

Mrs. Diana Brown

Bridesmaid

What would I do without Dianna? We bonded many years ago over our children while working together as nurses on the observation unit. We became fast friends and she has been by my side ever since. I think no two individuals laugh more when they get together than we do. She can make the worst day at work into the best day and she has insight into everything. She sometimes amazes me at work at how much she gets done and the rabbits she can pull out of a hat for her patients. I would drop anything to help Dianna, and I know she would drop anything for me. She has a love for her patients and for people that is unmatched. She's an amazing mother, wife, daughter, and friend. She is also one of the funniest people you will ever meet, and I am so thankful she will be with me on this special day.

Mr. Marc Marrocco

Groomsman

When you're 9 years old and your mothers are both from Europe, you play soccer. That's how Marc and Jack met. Also, since their parents' became best friends, Marc and Jack got to spend many weekends at each others' homes during their youth. The summer after 7th grade, Marc was Jack's 1st friend to go to Spain with him for the summer, and the following year, Marc joined Jack's family for a Disney vacation. Though life placed them on different ends of the country, over the years these two have remained close friends and would visit each other when possible. I would do anything for Marc anytime without hesitation. He has been there for me in many ways over the years and I am thankful for his friendship, and am blessed that he will be part of Jacinda and my special day.

Ms. Sharolyn Waters

Bridesmaid

Sharolyn is my no nonsense friend with a heart of gold. My oldest daughter and her son went through school together K-12, but Sharolyn and I did not become close until recent years. We share a love of horses and life in general. Sharolyn is one of the strongest women I know, and has been through more than any woman should, but always shows strength and grace when dealing with anything life throws her way. She is an amazing mom and grandma and has the most adorable grandchildren. She is there for me whenever I need her and I am so thankful to have her in my life. Sharolyn is the lady that once she makes a decision to make something happen nothing gets in her way. I admire her so much and am so thankful to have her be a part of this special day.

Major Steve Evans

Groomsman

Jack and Steve first met through college ROTC in 1989. Although Jack would eventually leave ROTC and enter a Marine Corps Commissioning program, Jack and Steve would become close friends and brothers through their fraternal affiliation of Delta Chi. Steve graduated from Eastern Illinois University in 1992 and entered the US army as a 2nd Lieutenant where he spent his first assignment in Germany. The following year Jack and his family returned to Spain for the holidays and was joined by Steve. That Christmas Steve and Jack's sister, Dominique, began a relationship that eventually turned into a marriage of over 20 years and going. A true friend for over 30 years and family for almost as long, Jack is honored to have Steve share in this special day.

Mrs. Carolyn Stovall

Bridesmaid

The first time I met Carolyn was the day I bought my first horse Banjo. Carolyn has a lot of knowledge in all things equestrian, and although she had never met me, she set aside her day to go help me pick a good horse and she has been an important part of my life ever since. Carolyn has a heart of gold and is always willing to set aside time to help someone. I found out the day I met her she is also a fellow nurse and later found she has a reputation for taking great care of her patients. She is silly and fun with a great dry sense of humor and she can sling of off a one liner without cracking a smile, but the sparkle in her eyes always gives her away. I am so thankful to have met this amazing lady that I now get to call one of my closest friends.

Miss Juliana Hellem

Flower Girl

Juliana is the daughter of Kenyon and Adriana Hellem. Jack and Kenyon have been friends for over 40 years. Juliana is getting ready to enter the 3rd grade and we are excited she will be part of our second day.

Chaplain(CPT,Ret) David Harvey

Officiant

In 1989 Jack and Dave were LCpls in E/2/14th Marines in Joliet Illinois. 7 years later they were 2ndLts with C/1/11 and 3/1 USMC in Camp Pendleton CA. The world truly is a small world. While serving together in California Dave became one of Jack's closest friends and after their 1st deployment, they shared a condo on the coast in Luecadia Ca. After each serving over a decade in the Marine Corps, both Jack and Dave continued to serve as Officers in the US Army. Though Jack remained in Combat Arms, Dave followed God's calling and became a Chaplain, later deploying to SW Asia to minister to servicemen "downrange". After Dave's retirement, I honored him by presenting him a Meritorious Service Medal for his years of service. But today Jacinda and I are honored to have Dave as our Officiant.
