Flight

Beirut - Rafic Hariri International Airport (BEY)

Beirut - Rafic Hariri International Airport (BEY) Routes typically require one or two layovers in USA and internationally. Typically, from major international hubs (examples: Frankfurt or Heathrow) to Beirut utilize Middle East Airlines (MEA) flights. Guests visiting Lebanon for the first time...you will LOVE it! Please inform us about your arrival date & time. We will help arrange transportation for you from our trusted taxi drivers (ones we have used from our childhood and are from our villages). We want you to have a fun and safe experience! :)

Travel Note

Currency

The Lebanese Pound (LBP) has recently stabilized, but we recommend checking the latest exchange rates on Lirarate.com before exchanging currency. The US dollar (USD) is widely accepted throughout Lebanon. You can often find prices in both currencies and it's common to pay using a mix of LBP and USD. Most major credit and debit cards are also accepted in some places. ATM withdrawal fees in Lebanon tend to be higher than usual, so it's a good idea to bring cash with you.

Travel Note

Transportation Around Lebanon

It is highly recommended to arrange your transportation from and to the airport with trusted taxi companies. The taxis present at the airport will try to rip you off. For first time visitors to Lebanon, we will arrange you to use our village's taxi companies specifically for you while visiting the country. Renting a car is a possibility, but in Lebanon, it requires a specific skillset. We don't recommend driving in Lebanon unless you have driven in other countries where regular driving rules don't exist (examples are Egypt, Morocco, India, etc.).

Travel Tips

1) European and American passport holders can get a visa on arrival, but please double-check the most up-to-date information. N.B. You cannot have any Israeli passport stamps or security stickers in your passport, and you will need to renew your passport before traveling to Lebanon to be allowed in. 2) Public transportation in Lebanon is practically non-existent. **We will add trusted cab companies very soon**

Additional Tips

1) Common communication that works without WiFi when purchasing a Sim card includes Whatsapp. Please have this app downloaded for easy communication while visiting. 2) We recommend packing anti-nausea / sickness medication such as Zofran or Imodium. 3) Tap water is not drinkable in Lebanon. 4) Google Maps is more reliable than other navigational apps. You can pre-download Lebanon's map through google maps which makes it usable without 3G or wifi. 5) Tipping in Lebanon is common, about 10-12% of the charged amount 6) Don't throw anything in the toilet - even toilet paper. 7) Most importantly, enjoy the food and all that the beautiful country has to offer!! *pro tip*: book your seat on the left side of the plane to get the best view of Beirut as you land.
