Just like that, our favorite story began by the sea — and now we’d love for you to be part of the chapters to come. Save the date! Keep scrolling to read our beginning :)
What are the chances of two people from opposite sides of the country meeting by chance, falling in love, and building a life together? About 1 in 3.8 million. And yet—here we are. In 2019, us two strangers, Celine (22, from Baton Rouge) and Jack (26, from Moreno Valley) both ended up in Miami for the NAM convention—a Lebanese-American event neither of us wanted to attend. Celine joked it was for “husband hunting,” and Jack figured it was full of desperate singles. But our friends pushed us to go, God had a plan in the works! On day one, Jack was lounging in the pool when Celine’s friend nudged her: “Let’s go talk to that guy.” And just like that, our story began. Celine wasn’t looking for love. She was trying to survive in an extrovert’s paradise. Jack, on the other hand? The moment he saw her, he knew that she was the cutest girl ever. From that moment on, Jack kept looking for ways to spend time with Celine. He kept asking about her and tried to find every excuse in the book to see her curly hair, precious smile, and heart of gold. Celine, of course, was completely oblivious (metel el 3ade!). She saw Jack as another friendly face she’s met. She was busy making friends and soaking in the experience, not realizing that Jack had already decided—this was the girl he was going to marry. At the end of the trip, Jack insisted on driving Celine to the airport - and that’s when Celine realized, “okay, this cute, sweet guy might actually be into me.” And that was just the beginning. While Celine was at the airport on her way back to Baton Rouge, the phone calls already started. Jack was making Celine laugh by making animal noises in public while Celine was trying to make Jack laugh through her lame jokes. What followed was a long-distance relationship of over 6 years and over 98,305 miles traveled between California and Louisiana. Suddenly, our theme song became "Callin Baton Rouge." And then, one day, Jack packed his bags, moved to Baton Rouge, and got down on one knee. Now, here we are—turning that 1 in 3.8 million chance into our little story.
