Wedding Party

Reesey Rea

Maid of Honor

“If I were a man, I would pursue you” — that’s something I often jokingly tell her. Having Reesey as one of my close friends is truly a gift. She is one of the sweetest people I know, with a gentle heart and a warm smile that makes people feel cared for. She pays attention to the little things, remembers what matters to people, and always seems to know when someone needs encouragement. She is also a philosopher at heart, always thinking deeply and asking thoughtful questions. During seasons when I felt discouraged, she faithfully pointed me back to God's truth and reminded me of His promises. I love her giggles, her excitement over small things, and the way she is honest about how she feels. She has never missed one of my performances, always showing up with encouragement and support. Through our friendship, she has reminded me that I am not alone. Older and wiser women have often told me that good female friendships are one of God's gifts. The older I get, the more I see how true that is. I am grateful that Reesey is one of those friends in my life.

Elisabeth Wood

Bridesmaid

“She's such a dear.” I still remember Dr. JP saying that about Elisabeth, and I could not agree more. Elisabeth has been one of the most faithful and treasured friends in my life. During one of the most difficult seasons I have ever walked through, she gave me a handwritten card with James 1:2–4 written inside. That card still hangs on my wall today. It reminds me not only of God's faithfulness, but also of the kindness and encouragement she showed me when I needed it most. I deeply admire her wisdom, gentleness, and unwavering faith. As both a friend and roommate, she has walked with me through many seasons of life. She played an important role in helping me overcome stage anxiety, inviting my close friends to listen as I practiced before performances. She has also faithfully prayed for my future marriage and encouraged me to do the same. Through many conversations, laughter, prayers, and even tears, she has been a faithful friend through every season. I am grateful for her friendship and thankful that she is one of those lifelong friends God has given me.

Julia Batley

Bridesmaid

(the one in the white dress!) “God is good” is something Julia says often, and it is a phrase that always makes me think of her. Julia was the first close friend I made at Biola. With our similar backgrounds and shared love for fashion, beauty, and all things aesthetic, we quickly became close. Some of my favorite college memories include long conversations, lots of laughter, and simply doing life together over the years. When I first came to the United States, my English was still very limited, and every paper felt overwhelming. Julia patiently helped me through many assignments, often working through them with me one sentence at a time. Her kindness and patience meant more to me than she will ever know. She was also one of the people who encouraged me most when I doubted myself or questioned whether I should continue pursuing music. We have shared many prayers, laughs, tears, and late-night conversations over the years. Looking back, I am so thankful for the friendship we built at Biola. I am grateful for her friendship and honored to have her standing by my side on this special day.

Richard Kim

Best Man

Richard is my best man and happens to also be one of the best men I know. Our lives are a product our choices, big and small - Richard chose discipline, dedication, and ambition. Regardless of the intervals of contact or circumstances that life brings, he has always been there. Though our paths have diverged from early teenage-years binge watching Blockbuster videos and late night battling over ping pong in my garage, I can always trust Richard to be loyal.

Josh Yi

Groomsman

Some of my friends call him Sam 2.0 - bigger, stronger, faster. I get a Master's degree, he gets two. It's the way it should be, the older sibling proud of the younger sibling surpassing him in many ways. I had little to do with it. He has cultivated discipline and focus and now he eats the sweet fruit of his labor. A family man with a wonderful little girl and equally capable wife, Josh is an example of what blessing can follow when you channel your energy into more lasting virtues.

Kouri Song

Groomsman

Our friendship began at 13 years old, belly down on the basketball courts to settle the title of strongest Asian in school via armwrestling. I won. But that was child's play. As an adult when he decided he cared, he became a powerlifter and MMA practitioner not to be reckoned with. That's the kind of man he is. When he decides he wants to become something, he just wills it into existence. When life got hard he didn't crack under pressure but adapted and grew stronger. He didn't let his past define his circumstance. Off the charts talented and creativity, he's never what you think he is or where you think he's going. I'm happy to have shared some aspects of redemption with him.

Mason Todd

Ring Bearer

One of my favorite memories is little Mason saying, "No..." to everything and everyone. I also loved hearing him say, "Do it again! Again!" whenever we played together. Mason and Izzy would sit on the slide while I pulled them around, and I still miss their sweet giggles. Mason is Carolyn's pride and joy, and it has been such a joy and blessing for me to watch him grow. ❤️

Jade Yi

Flower Girl

Jade, Uncle Sam’s favorite, brings so much joy to our lives. She means the world to Sam and Joanna, and every moment spent with her is a gift. Her sweet smile and cheerful spirit brighten every room she enters. Having her as our flower girl is a very special blessing, and we are so grateful to have her celebrate this day with us. ❤️

Sung Yi

Mother of the Groom

My mom has been a living saint that exemplifies sacrificial love. She has been one of the best representations of what it means to work out one's salvation with fear and trembling. She has defied conventional outcomes of suffering with class and grace instead of bitterness and despair. Good cook, even better community servant, but definitely the greatest of moms.

Dr. David&Gloria Vreeland

Parents of the Bride

I am so grateful that God brought my American parents into my life. After my father passed away in 2016, I spent the next two years praying that God would allow me to experience the love of an earthly father again so that I could better understand the love of my Heavenly Father. Looking back, I believe God graciously answered that prayer. In 2018, God brought David and Gloria into my life in a beautiful and unexpected way. Over the past eight years, they have shown me a love that is unconditional, patient, supportive, and freely given. Even when I feared rejection, made mistakes, or fell short, they continued to welcome, encourage, and care for me. Through their love, I learned what it truly feels like to be loved. For the first time, that deep, warm, and secure sense of being cherished began to grow in my heart. Through David and Gloria, I have experienced a tangible reflection of God's love. Their marriage has also been a beautiful testimony to me. Because of their example, I have come to believe more deeply that love in Christ can be beautiful and enduring. Through their faithfulness in serving God, I have witnessed Christian perseverance, patience, and trust. No words can fully express how grateful I am for them. The greatest way I can honor their love, encouragement, and investment in my life is to continue growing in my relationship with God, receiving His love, and sharing that love with others. ❤️
