Yes! Well, hopefully yes. There is certainly a world where the Army decides it needs us stationed in different places. However, we are enrolled in the Married Army Couples Program which gives us a method to line up career options and posts in the future. Right now, we are hoping to get stationed together sometime in 2021, before we reach the next big milestone in our Army careers. There are no guarantees, but we're keeping an optimistic outlook!
It's super fun because I (Keila) get to totally pump up my fiancée here! She is a first Lieutenant working as a detachment commander and executive officer for HHC stationed at Joint Base Elmendorf Richardson in Anchorage, AK. Realizing you all will quickly be comparing her and I makes me hesitant to say this next bit. Nonetheless, she is a Ordnance officer (91A) who has deployed with a quartermaster company, served as a transportation platoon leader, and currently serves as a detachment commander for an ordnance detachment that is a Division-level asset. For those of you who didn't catch all that (don't worry, I'm in the military and it took me a while to comprehend the breadth of her experience in only 2 short years) she does a lot of jobs and does them so well that they are currently making her serve in two positions that are really each a full time job on their own! She makes it possible for the Army to function in a way that will rarely get the credit but deserves it all!
I (Keila) am a platoon leader in the Army stationed at Joint Base Lewis McChord in Tacoma, Washington. My MOS is 11A which means I'm an infantry officer! It's my job to prepare a platoon's worth of soldiers, typically somewhere between 30-45 soldiers, to fight and win America's wars. I have a much simpler job than my fiancée but find a lot of pleasure in getting to be a part of a great team of soldiers!
Not exactly! We will officially be married after December, 21 2020. It's important to us to be able to bring family and friends into our relationship, but we'd also really like to start married life together. We want to be able to see those we love in person, and we think the best way to do that is postpone a larger gathering until sometime next year. We're thinking either sometime during summer or the winter, but we'll have to wait to see what God has in store for us and the nation!
