How We Met

A Puppy Becomes a Wingman

My first big adult decision (after getting a job and moving to my own apartment) was, obviously, to get a puppy. My first big adult regret was the seventeenth time my new puppy peed on the floor and then ate some furniture. I stumbled upon the best doggy daycare in town due to absolute necessity. I was immediately swept off my feet by Izzie at the front desk. Her smile, friendliness, corny jokes. Once she made me put a costume on my dog, which I want everyone to know was the first and last time. I would do slow breathing exercises in the truck before entering the building in an attempt to chill out and act cool for once! Well, it seems that something I did worked. Might have been the cute puppy.

The Proposal

The day of the proposal started out as any should: at the farmer's market. I knew we were having a picnic on the beach where I would propose. And I knew that all I really had was some lettuce and that does not really count as a "picnic." So I had to spill the beans about the picnic, and Izzie chose some sides for our meal. We drove out to Hunting Island and parked near the lighthouse. We walked out to the beach and set up our blanket and lunch, and some people rode by on horses. I later told Izzie that I paid those people to ride by to add pizzaz to the pictures. I waited until I saw our photographer (my mom) in the distance. She saw us and started running, and it was showtime. I asked the question that had been preventing me from breathing and/or eating for twenty minutes. Spoiler alert: Izzie said "yes."

For all the days along the way
