FAQs

The Wedding Website of Ivy Williams and Will Dixon
Question

What is "formal attire"

Answer

Formal attire offers a bit more flexibility than black tie, so tea and ankle-length dresses and dressy separates are acceptable, as well as darker-hued suits paired with a crisp white button-down and tie. Check out this article on the knot for additional details! https://www.theknot.com/content/formal-wedding-attire

Question

Where should I stay?

Answer

Given the limited number of hotels and BnBs on Shelter Island, Ivy and Will are mapping out specific locations for each guest to stay. They will be reaching out to you individually with options!

Question

When should I expect my formal invitation?

Answer

We are planning to mail out our invitations in the Spring of 2026.

Question

Who can I bring?

Answer

Your invitation will clearly state to whom the invitation is addressed to. This weekend will be an adults only celebration. We hope you may want to make a vacation out of this trip and we can help to coordinate child care during the festivities.

Question

Will there be other activities?

Answer

Yes! We plan to have welcome drinks for all guests on Friday night. We will additionally plan for some sort of send off activity for Sunday.

Question

How do I get around for the wedding activities?

Answer

We are formalizing the shuttle schedule as the weekend gets closer. Use this page to stay in the loop. Friday - please find your own transportation to the welcome party. You may be within walking distance. Please utilize Shelter Island Taxi if you are looking for a ride. Saturday - we will provide a shuttle from your hotel/coordinated bnb to the ceremony. The ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception are all at the same location (Ivy's childhood home). Following the main events, there will be shuttles back to your hotels and to the after party. Shelter Island Taxi will be available for late night rides. Sunday - please find your own transportation around the island. If we don't see you at the send off - that's OK, we will see you after our honeymoon!

Question

What is Baldwin Farm?

Answer

Baldwin Farm is the property/home where Ivy grew up. The property has been in her family since the 50s, and back then, you could find cows, horses, and chickens running around. Although now there are only 'wild' animals like turkey, deer, and squirrels, her relatives have affectionately coined the property 'Baldwin Farm".

Question

What will the bridesmaids be wearing?

Answer

The bridesmaids will be in long navy blue dresses.

Question

How do I get onto Shelter Island?

Answer

Please note that you will need to take either the North Ferry from Greenport (8 minute ride) or the South Ferry from North Haven (5 minute ride) to get onto Shelter Island. You may drive across or walk across. Bring cash for the ferry rides. No reservations require. See website for rates and schedules. There is a Chase on Shelter Island in the center of town if you need cash while on the island. North Ferry website: https://www.northferry.com South Ferry website: https://www.southferry.com
