Being lifelong softball and baseball players and fans, it is no surprise that we first met on the slow pitch softball field! We played together and against each other several times over the years, and had lots of mutual friends. But when did the romance start?! As a self proclaimed "cleat chaser", when Alanna stumbled upon Pat's profile on an online dating platform it was a no brainer--SWIPE RIGHT! Pat, on the other hand, had just moved to New Jersey to pursue a new career and swore he'd never get involved with a girl at a distance ever again. Look how well that worked out for him!! He, too, swiped right and the conversations began (YES! Online dating WORKS--even when you already know each other!!)
After a few months of stress, packing, and paperwork, it was FINALLY time for us to make our biggest purchase as a couple--a NEW HOME! We had a blast house hunting, planning for the future, and making these life decisions together as a team. We weren't engaged yet, but Alanna had a feeling it was coming soon! After signing our lives away at the house closing, we were beyond excited to start the move in process with our closest friends and family. It was a "warm" December morning, so of course, Alanna forced Pat to take a few (hundred) pictures on the front porch of our new home! Michayla, Alanna's sister, was helping with the move, so she pulled up to the new house and was asked to be our personal photographer. We went through various poses, several back drops, but Alanna still needed more pictures! (That's nothing new!) With the last picture, Michayla gave Pat a subtle look to cue him that now was the time to drop to one knee. Alanna was approving the pictures that had been taken, and when she turned around Pat was on his knee and suddenly, the best day ever became even BETTER!
