Due to ongoing Covid-19 restrictions in Chicago, we have decided to modify our original wedding plans and instead have a small intimate wedding on May 7th. While this was a heartbreaking decision to make, we are confident it's the best course of action to keep everyone healthy and safe. Since we would love to celebrate with all of you in some form, we will be streaming the ceremony from our "Virtual Ceremony" tab on the website. Thank you for your continued love and support! We are so thankful for all of you.
This love story began on a balmy day in Oregon, March 2017. Jessie had plans to spend the day hiking around the coast with friends. David also had plans to go to the coast with a mutual friend of Jessie’s, so at the last minute the two groups decided to join forces and make the trip together. Jessie remembers her friend saying “I’m going to the coast too- my friend David can drive us in his Jeep!” So sure enough the next morning at 9 AM David pulled up in front of the Addy apartments in NW Portland to pick up Jessie, Sam and Kirsten.. They hopped in the car despite David being a relative stranger. That first day together was perfectly spent. The group laughed their way up and down Cannon Beach listening to music, playing Spikeball and drinking kombucha, swapping stories and eating dinner at Pelican Brewery. The day was so perfect that even after the 90 minute drive back to Portland everyone convened at Jessie’s apartment to watch The Goonies (an Oregon classic) and eat hummus on her couch. That first day J&D spent 13 hours together, and were attached at the hip from that day on. A couple months later, J&D were seeing each other nearly every day after work with their friends- grilling at the Addy, going on runs in Forest Park and eating at the Pope House patio on the weekly. Towards the end of April Jessie realized that she had spent 23 days in a row with David and thought she might be starting to have some feelings that were less than platonic. David started to have similar feelings around the same time, and they were solidified for both J&D after a hike in Forest Park went wrong as they got lost and spent an additional three hours together trying to find their way out. They were both secretly ecstatic for the extra hours together, and they saw an owl which Jessie took to be a sign of good luck. Feelings culminated when Jessie invited David to be her date to a BBQ at one of her co-workers houses. They held hands in the cab on the way there and the rest was history.
