We met at a 3-day country music festival in Eastern Washington called Watershed. I was attending with three of my friends and Brian was attending with three of his Navy buddies. I walked up while they were playing corn hole and asked Brian if he would take a picture of all four of us. He did, and we walked away. Later that day while at the concert, Brian spotted our group and came over to say hi. We hung out until I had to leave to get some food and we tried to exchange numbers but both of our phones were dead. Brian used a pin to scratch my number into another pin. We hung out for the rest of the time at the festival and before him and his buddies left on Sunday night, we were standing in front of the port-a-potties and he asked if he could kiss me.
After arriving home from the festival, Brian made up some lame excuse to text me. It worked, and I convinced him that we should hang out again before I left for college in two weeks. We planned to either go climbing or to a Mariners game the next Wednesday. On Wednesday, he showed up to my house early, met my parents and talked with my dad about the Navy until I was ready. We ended up going to the Mariner's game and they won 2-0 against the Blue Jays. We took the long way home and while sitting in his truck outside of my house, I asked if I could kiss him again. Before I got out of the truck, I told him that I was leaving for college in 3 days and asked if we were going to make this work or not.
On Brian's 25th birthday, I was visiting him in Minnesota and we spent a long weekend in Duluth. He took me to Gooseberry Falls and Split Rock Lighthouse and then we were going to go on a picnic along the water. While at the lighthouse, we walked down to the shore and sat there for awhile. He was acting funny and eventually asked me what was the one thing he could want for his birthday. When I didn't guess it right, he pulled out the ring and asked me to marry him! I was so surprised!
