Evan: We met on the internet. Rachel: That's what he loves to tell people, to get a rise out of me. We actually met through our mutual writings about grief. I'd read some of his articles and he'd read mine. We've both experienced loss and got to talking about it - yes, online - through Twitter. He made it clear that he was going to pursue me boldly but patiently. I wasn't ready. We eventually began writing real, hand-written letters and talking on the phone. When we finally met in person, I realized that I couldn't keep him at a friend's distance. When he asked at the end of our visit: "Are you my girl?" though I normally overthink and analyze everything, I couldn't help but respond with an immediate "Yes." Evan often tells me: "You make me believe that I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living." This love has brought healing and joy to both our hearts and we've been smiling non-stop for months. Life is hard, but God is kind. We can't wait to love and serve each other with the rest of our lives.
