I met Kalie in my dorm. She was hanging out with the comp sci guys next door. I poked my head in and said hello as one does. Kalie smiled and we joked around a bit. Little did I know that she would become a really good friend by the end of our freshman year at school. -Isaiah
You would often find us in Winter Hall where we pulled all-nighters studying for our Old Testament class. Who knew I could have so much fun while memorizing the exact layout of the Tabernacle. When I was studying with Isaiah, it was too easy to have a blast. -Kalie
It was the summer after my sophomore year when I decided to change my major to Data Analytics. How would I be able to pass the exam needed to enter into the major with no coding background and only 2 months of the summer left to learn the whole class? Kalie Drown was the answer. She taught me an entire course of Java which helped me pass the exam in order to start my new major. What a great "friend"! From here on out, we'd be partners for several coding projects to come. -Isaiah
We'd do everything together! Isaiah and I shared plenty of common interests like going to the gym, playing sports, and playing board games. Due to our natural competitiveness, our hangouts often morphed into spirited competitions. I really appreciated the comfortability we shared, as I could just be myself when I was hanging with Isaiah. -Kalie
We were playing our favorite game when Isaiah asked me to be his girlfriend! The transition from friends to dating was pretty smooth for us, although I remember worrying that our friendship dynamic would change. Spoiler alert, our dynamic did change for the better as we grew and matured in the Lord. We soon began attending church together and deepening our relationship, while continuing to have fun and enjoy each others' company. -Kalie
After almost 3 years of dating and 5 years of friendship, all was well and we continued growing closer and closer to each other as well as closer and closer to God. There was no doubt in my mind that we were compatible and we had a solid foundation on which to build a marriage. I saw how much Kalie loved the Lord by her unselfish love and care for others on a daily basis. I knew she was the one for me, and the thing that spurred me on to propose to her was when God answered my prayers in regards to her getting a job at the same company (Oceanspray) in Massachusetts that I am working at. After picking out a ring from the same jeweler my parents went to for their engagement ring, I had everything I needed to ask Kalie to be my wife. I surprised her at Westmont College where we met, took her to the ocean viewpoint on campus right under the library, and proposed to her that afternoon. -Isaiah
