Nuremberg Airport

This is the best airport for international visitors. You can rent a car directly at the airport. Or, take the U-Bahn (subway) to the Nuremberg Hauptbahnhof (central station). From here, you can take a train (either S-Bahn or RE-Bahn) to Bamberg.

Because the venue is difficult to reach by public transport, we recommend renting a car. Additionally, while public transit in Germany is generally quite good, certain locations that you may wish to visit before or after the wedding are difficult to access without a car. Cars can be rented at the Nuremberg Airport or in Bamberg. While cars cannot be rented directly at the Bamberg train station, rental car offices can be reached with a 20-30 minute walk. FOR NON-EUROPEAN VISITORS: Be sure to get an international driver's license in the United States before leaving. These are inexpensive (around 20 USD) and will allow you to drive in Europe. You generally only need to fill out a form (you do not need to take a test). Note that the international driver's licenses must be used TOGETHER with a valid driver's license from your home country.

Camping at the venue

There is plenty of room to pitch a tent, park a camper van, or sleep out under the stars at the venue.

Thurnau Castle (Schloss Thurnau)

Thurnau is about 10 minutes / 10 kilometers by car from the venue. In this historic village, there is a castle, the first section of which was constructed during the 13th century. Today, it operates as a hotel and is located beside a scenic pond.
