Question

How do I get to Bainbridge Island and the wedding?

Answer

We recommend you spend the weekend on Bainbridge Island, arriving Thursday evening or Friday morning and departing Sunday. Bainbridge can be accessed via ferry boat (35 minute passage across Puget Sound) which departs from Pier 52 in downtown Seattle and will drop you off near Winslow Way, downtown Bainbridge Island. If you are not renting a car we recommend staying close to Winslow Way as Bainbridge does not have many public transportation options. We will have a shuttle running from the ferry, Quality Inn & Suites and the Eagle Harbour Inn for the wedding. If you are staying outside of Winslow and don't plan to rent a car you can arrange Taxi's from Viking Cab Co. (360-244-4420). Bainbridge does not have any Uber/Lyft's. If you do have a car and are traveling to Bainbridge Island you can drive onto the ferry but note that in summer this very popular and you often miss 1-2 ferries so plan for a 2-3 hour wait if driving during the popular times of the day 8 AM- 8 PM. Alternatively you can drive around as Bainbridge has a bridge on the North end of the island, it is about a 2-hour drive from Seattle to Bainbridge. We will have parking available at the wedding venue, you can park at the Johnson Farm which borders the wedding site.

Question

What is there to do on Bainbridge Island and the surrounding area?

Answer

We created a Northwest guide of our favorite places to visit, things to do and places to eat on Bainbridge, in Seattle, across Kitsap County and the wider state of Washington. If you are visiting for just the weekend or coming for the week, we have lots of recommendations outlined for you in the guide in the 'Things To Do' section!

Question

Do I need to rent or have a car?

Answer

We hope to make it possible to attend the wedding without the need for renting a car. However, if you want to explore more of Bainbridge or the beautiful Pacific Northwest summer, we recommend getting a car.

Question

Will parking be available?

Answer

We will have parking available on the Johnson Farm for all wedding guests, this will also be where the shuttle drops off for those leveraging the shuttle. The Johnson Farm is located at NE Twin Ponds Rd., Bainbridge Island, WA. The farm is owned by the city of Bainbridge Island and managed by Friends of the Farm, it is a public space for the community of Bainbridge to use and you may see community members walking their dogs or gardening in the community pea patch. We will have signage and a parking attendant to help everyone and answer any parking related questions. It is approximately a quarter mile up-hill walk on a grass from the parking area to the wedding ceremony area.

Question

Will there be food available for those with dietary restrictions?

Answer

We will be serving appetizers during the cocktail hour followed by a sit down family style dinner at the wedding. All food will be vegetarian with options to be vegan and gluten-free. As you RSVP we will be collecting food allergies and make accommodations where possible. The dinner menu will label common food allergies and servers will be able to answer any questions about specific ingredients as needed.

Question

What should I wear?

Answer

We recommend dressing for an outdoor semi-formal occasion. The event will be held at Isabel's family's home property in the flower gardens. You will want to wear shoes that you can easily walk on grass with, for women we recommend against high heels or stilettos due to the grass.

Question

What will the weather be?

Answer

Tyler may be studying atmospheric science, but even he can't predict the weather! Summer in Seattle typically ranges from 70-90 degrees. The wedding weekend is the statistically best weather weekend of the year, we hope the statistics are in our favor but have a tent should the rain clouds open up.

Question

How much walking is involved?

Answer

The parking area is located on the Johnson Farm, there is an approximate quarter mile walk up a small grassy hill to get to the wedding ceremony area. After the wedding ceremony there will be a group procession through the woods to the cocktail area, another quarter mile walk (optional). Please reach out to Isabel or Tyler with any mobility issues and we can secure parking closer to the ceremony.

Question

What is the shuttle schedule?

Answer

The shuttle will be running to take people to and from the wedding from the Bainbridge Ferry Terminal, Quality Inn & Suites and the Eagle Harbor Inn from 2:30 PM-11:00 PM. Please indicate if you will be using a shuttle when you RSVP and additional schedule details will be emailed to you closer to the wedding weekend.
