We love America don't get us wrong but our wedding is one of the most important days of our lives and we want our loved ones to have the opportunity to join us on that day. Many of Isabel's loved ones live in Mexico and in order to come to the US if we had the wedding here is a visa which is more expensive than the travel itself plus takes years to process and isn't guaranteed + we love Mexico :)
Yes! We have looked into tons of different locations where we feel all our guest would be welcomed and safe. Mexico City was the obvious choice that checked off all our boxes. The United States Department of Travel has Mexico City and its surrounding states at a level 2 (the same level as Antartica, France, Germany, UK, Italy, and many more) - you can check on Travel.State.Gov
We ask that you rsvp by March, 2025 - I know alot can happen in a few months so obviously if something comes up we can further discuss. We only ask for such advance notice so we can include you in our flights, lodging, and activity numbers :)
We understand the idea of a wedding abroad sounds expensive and absurd to many but we want to make it as reasonable for you as possible! We will keep you in the loop for expenses - as for flights we estimate about $500 RT/PP (out of Omaha) or less depending on where you want to fly out of + food is relatively cheap in Mexico. If you don't want street food, there is a Costco and Walmart nearby. Feel free to reach out with financial concerns as we are happy to help as much as possible!
Option 1 we book a roundtrip flight for you August 15 to August 19 and accommodation and you pay us! Option 2 I can send you recommendations of what I find. I also highly recommend google flights or using any points from airlines you use consistently.
We do ask you only bring a carry on luggage rather than a big luggage for space and time purposes but if needed for medical or private purpose just let us know! The weather tends to be mid 80s that time so light clothing is usually a good choice!
Cocktail attire (semi formal) for the ceremony/wedding - in the church we ask that your knees and shoulders are covered by your outfit but not necessary for after. For the extra days warm weather casual cute and comfy.
We ask that you wear something in the costal blue realm for the wedding day as we'd love to get photos with everyone and look semi coordinated to print and hang up in our home. In the gallery tab theres an image of the colors we're looking for. It is not required to wear and you don't have to buy anything new or fancy.
Mexico City has safe, cheap, and reliable public transit - we are more than happy to help get those who would like a transit pass one + there are also bikes that on Sundays the main street in the downtown area is blocked off for if that is of interest. Apart from that they also have Ubers, taxis, etc. - Apart from that my family there also have vehicles if there's special circumstances or somewhere far needed to go.
During the days there we will being doing activities and taking around those who would like to see some of the best landmarks in the city and out to eat at some of our favorite local spots if you would like to join you are more than welcome or free to do your own thing!
Yes of course! If they aren't on the invite, we just ask that they pay their expenses.
Im sorry if the location has caused an issue and isn't reasonable for you and your family at the time :( As much as we would love to have you join us on this special day we 1000% understand it isn't always reasonable. Unfortunately the reality of having family all over the world is we know no matter where we have it there will be people we won't be able to share the day with and greatly miss, but look forward to catching up with you soon!!
State.Gov
We don't know - statistically speaking half of marriages end in divorce in general plus even higher in young marriages BUT apart from the obvious answer of love... we have gone against some challenges despite our young age. When we first started dating we only could communicate via letter for MONTHS then over the occasional seconds long biweekly phone call - Once he was back I was off to college where we broke up initially but could never actually stay away lol - we made long distance work despite the odds - after we lived together for a year where we were able to find balances that worked for us - then for a last hurdle we traveled Europe for over 100 days where we were together 24/7 which no matter how much you love someone is not always an easy task - I'm sure we have millions of hurdles ahead of us but we are confident if we can figure these out now we'll be able to overcome others life throws at us :)
