We met at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital working in the ICU. Mariam was getting off night shift and Isaac was orienting on day shift. However, Isaac does not remember this brief interaction! Isaac's first recollection of our meeting was at a 7am post night shift "dinner". After a long shift, Mariam walked out of the cafeteria to see Isaac eating by himself. Excited to talk to her new coworker, she asked "Can I sit with you?" and promptly sat down before Isaac had the chance to answer. Isaac looked down at her plate and noticed a large plate of hot sauce, with a side of eggs. And that is when he knew they could be friends.

After years of spending time as friends, Isaac managed to finally escape the friendzone on March 26th, 2019.
