The first day of Freshman Year at Henrietta Lacks Health and Bioscience High School, we first ever crossed paths in our Medical Science class. Over the next few weeks we’d catch each others eye, and pretty soon fate played a role. It wasn’t until our teacher at the time moved us next to each other that we started to notice each other more and more. I really knew of him when a girl in class told me and Isaac “You guys would be cute at homecoming together, you should go together!” to where my nerves got the best of me and I responded with “Thank you! I’m going with some friends though”, I felt so silly that I let nerves get in the way of a dance with him. Thankfully god had other plans though and let me live down that fateful moment.
On this exact day, after several days of working up the courage. I sent the first message of many more over Instagram to Isaac. I wanted to get to know him, and have a huge crush (still to this day after over 4 years together!) that I couldn’t not at least go for it. I would’ve rather taken a risk than to not do it and regret it, and that day was the best decision I ever made. We had known of each other and previously crossed paths in our medical science class. Although usually not much more than just a small conversation, I took my chance. In the peak of the pandemic I wasn’t sure when I’d see him again or even if I’d see him in class again. Lucky for me he was on Instagram and he responded back, that began our conversation. It was the beginning of something beautiful, and the start to so many more incredible memories and conversations!
We had our first date (of many) at Jamba Juice. We sat there chatting and laughing for hours, and exchanged our Christmas gifts to each other on the patio at Peet’s Coffee. I never knew how fast time flew until we spent that day together. Before we knew it 1:00pm turned into 7:00pm and we had to leave because the coffee shop closed. Time just seemed to move in a way it never had before, way too fast!
On this day (one of the best days of our lives!) we went to Smith Rock state park near Bend, OR for the day. After wanting to go for so long together, we finally made it happen in the most special way possible. Starting our adventure out on a small path, eventually it led to red rose petals lining the path. After taking in the view it wasn’t until he asked me to turn around, then he asked me to marry him! With a celebratory picnic planned right after, it’s was magic! The rest is history.. and now we get to plan the day where my best friend becomes my forever. We couldn’t be more excited!
